Invitations - Splurge or Save?

Who knew pretty paper could get so expensive?! Are you spending extra on upgrades like envelope liners, engraving, and custom calligraphy? Or saving your money on something that gets quickly tossed in the trash! Are you splurging or saving on your wedding invitations? 💌 Photo by Sara Bishop...

    Save!
We bought off Etsy and Vista/Zazzle/Shutterfly for our various paper needs. The Etsy stuff was probably the most expensive, and we might have over-ordered, but we still spent less than I had budgeted.

We splurged on these too. I kept looking at some of the cheaper sites and could never find anything I liked that fit us

Definitely save, especially if I decide to go with Vistaprint (Which I probably will)

I think we ended up getting a really good deal on our suites - even though we were prepared to spend a lot. Our invitations, 3 card enclosures, and pre-addressed invite and RSVP response envelopes ended up costing less than $400

Save. We're looking at the least expensive online option, but we're looking to cut costs in this area, it's just not a priority for us.

Definitely splurge! As an artist, I think it is pretty important for me to give out invitations that I would be very proud of. Therefore, I don't mind if they cost a little more than I would like, it is something I plan on keeping for myself, also.

Save, although I still feel like their too expensive. Ugh it’s just paper that’s going to get tossed in the trash eventually.

Save!!! I cannot believe invitations could get so pricey. Thank goodness I'm barely inviting anyone lol. That really ended up being a lifesaver. That being said, I still skipped some of the upgrades. I just went with some rose gold foil, which was me "treating myself." Lol

As a side note too, extra saver, totally skipped Save The Dates since we picked a date, and it was only 7 months away! So we just decided to send out invites a little earlier than normal, like 4 months ahead of time. Smiley smile Worked out fine since it was family only.

The shop's name is Gilded Swan Paperie (https://www.etsy.com/shop/GildedSwanPaperie?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=231953036). She's kind of niche because all of her designs are vintage based but she has several that are timeless and she was SO incredibly nice to work with! I love that they all come with printed backs and rounded corners so the price is definitely worth it! She prints them on a large press herself and the quality is excellent.

I was going to splurge, since it's a vow renewal, but ended up finding the pockets on clearance along with all the envelopes and enclosures on cards and pockets. I'm printing the actual invitation myself from a template we purchased from Etsy for $6.

We opted for a more affordable option & because I'm a small detail kind of person I bought some adorable wax seals off Etsy (highly recommend buying seals on Etsy NOT with invite site/company).

I personally think you can still get cute, aesthetically pleasing invites for an affordable price. Spend savings elsewhere that won't necessarily go to waste/in the trash can.

We decided after looking at a bunch of different designs on several different sites, we would create our own. Creating them is free and i got a newer printer so in reality the only thing we are paying for is another toner and paper..which is cheaper than buying them.
