Invitations

Kristina, on July 21, 2022 at 9:28 PM Posted in Planning 2 14
Hey everyone. I’m getting married December of next year and I’m starting to look into invitations and save the dates. Any recommendations on websites to create these? Or where to start?

I used Zazzle for both save the dates and invitations. You can also use The Knot or Etsy. They have some really nice ones as well.

We used Shutterfly for our save the dates and invitations. They turned out really well. We also used Minted for several items.

We did our Save The Dates through Wedding Wire so the colors/ patterns would match our website (also done through Wedding Wire). You can also check out Zazzle, Minted, The Knot, Etsy, Shutterfly, and I'm sure there's a ton of other options I'm missing. You could also design them online (Canva is a great free design website) and then get them printed at your local office supply store!

It really depends on what you want, what you can afford, and how big of a priority they are to have fancy ones. Get samples from every vendor so you can feel the paper quality. For example, there are past posts where a few brides got samples from Vistaprint, Shutterfly, Zazzle, etc and they were all very low quality for the price that is charged; expecting card stock and getting thick copy paper. Also, they only sell individual pieces with envelopes separate which is is not economical for you.

You can design your own on Canva. Etsy.com offers digital services as well as printing full sets of actual paper invites. However they may choose to limit themselves to only the artwork and font selections they provide online samples of. Another option is to work with a local small business independent print shop.

If you want a traditional full set: invitation, details/reception card and rsvp card with envelope, and outer envelope included, you can get them very inexpensively at good quality via annsbridalbargains.com and Costco.com. Not everyone is tech savvy and that includes the younger crowd, contrary to popular belief, so online only rsvps, websites, QR codes and the list goes on will only be viewed by a small number of guests. Even if someone is tech savvy, it may not be a thing in their families or social circles to have any of those tech advancements because their families may view a formal social gathering as requiring a paper invitation and inserts. That doesn’t make them archaic or bad because that is their tradition.

Save the dates in some circles are a basic phone call with no postcard or magnet. You can go basic with Vistaprint or Canva and make a magnet that won’t get lost fairly inexpensively. No need to go expensive with that.
You don’t need to get fancy with the invitation either because only your parents and you will keep them after the wedding.

I made all of my paper goods for the wedding on Canvas and Templett when I got good at them! Etsy also has amazing options for customizable wedding suites! If you do them yourself, order 110-120lb weighted cardstock and have them professionally printed. We spent about $50 on our RSVP, Save The Date, and invitations for 136 people!

Thank you! I played around with Canva yesterday, and fell in love with a certain design so this is great advice for homemade ones!

I used Etsy & minted for invites. I like minted better because it saves all of your addresses for future events such as bridal shower etc.
