Invitations

Alexandra, on June 18, 2021 at 11:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 17
Anyone getting married December 4th? Most of our family and friends do not live local to us. I was thinking to order invitations now and send them out in July. That way people can make work and travel arrangements. Also, on the RSVPs should I include a stamp on the return envelope or just send it without?

Then people should already know the date and time and you don’t need to send the invites this early! I’d just wait and send them out 2-3 months before

I sent out my destination wedding invitations 4 months before so I think your timeline is good. I’ve researched this topic quite a bit and some would say that July might be too early for you. I say, just go with what suits you best. You know your guest more than any of us. When I sent mine out, some replied straight away and started booking hotels, flights etc.

Thank you so much for that! I can totally relate to you. I think I will send them out 4 months before. I have to have an official head count by November 1st for food. So Sept would probably be best!

If you already sent STDs then you don't need to send invitations out until end of September (otherwise they will get misplaced/forgotten). Also, if you send RSVP cards then, yes, they should be stamped.

Invites are typically sent out 6-8 weeks brfy the wedding. The whole point of the save the dates were so people could make work and travel arrangements so there is no need to send out the invitations so far in advance. If you having your guests RSVP via mail them yes you need to stamp the return envelope.

If you've sent save the dates no need to send early. But yes, definitely stamp on envelopes.

I am getting married on December the 3rd of this year. I'm sending mine out the first week in October. I read to send them out 6-8 weeks before the date. And I send out Save the Dates already so everyone should be well aware of the date. Smiley smile

If save the dates have already been sent then send invites at the standard 6-8 weeks. Which is anytime in October. Do not send them earlier or they are guaranteed to be lost and forgotten.

July invitations are way too early for a December wedding. Wait until 2-3 months before (late September/early October would be perfect, depending on when the date actually is).

Hmm Since you already sent save the dates, I think you can wait a little bit. Send the invites in September or October.

I think earlier is better and there is no reason to wait till fall. People need to plan ahead of time to travel/take time off work, and book an early flight. They may not pay as much attention to the save the date, but will for the formal invitation. I'd say, mail it Mid-July (July 4th everyone is on vacation) - and they will pay attention to it. As far as RSVP - I think if you have a lot of folks coming, (more than 50) you should do that. This way, folks again - will pay attention. If you're having a smaller wedding an RSVP on the invite itself, "Please RSVP by November 20, 2021 by calling us at 222-555-3333 or emailing us at ********************@*****.***

Invitations with all the inserts and stamps can get very expensive (and tedious to build), so I would wait 8-10 weeks, as some may RSVP 'no' just from Save the Dates. Also, it is courteous to provide a stamp on your printed and paid for RSVP's. Plus, you'll get a better return in the mail from wedding etiquette people. When I don't get a return stamp, a part of me wants to wait for a harried text from a thoughtless host because I'm not heading to the post office.

Haha thanks for that! It is costly! That’s why I wanted to see if it was even worth it to stamp as some people will either lose or text me saying they are coming. Thanks for the useful response! 😃🙏🏼
