Invite Etiquette - Couples who live separately?

Kimpy, on June 5, 2012 at 3:05 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 4

Hai there.

I am going over my guest list. I have a few couples who live at different addresses. They have been together for years, so I know they are coming together for the wedding. I gave the bridesmaids the addresses of the ladies so they can be invited to the bridal shower. I sent my Save the Dates out separately because my Mom told me to do this.

My question is.... when I am sending out the invitations, should I still send separate invites? Mr. ____ will get one at 123 Main Street with One seat reserved

and Ms. _____ will get one at 456 Jones Ave with one seat reserved?

I understand how to address the invite if an unmarried couple was living at the same address - but how does it work when they are at two different places?

Send separate invitations with no plus one or send one with a plus one. Verbally indicate that the plus one is for their significant other.

I would send separate invites or talk to them if it is only a few about only sending one invite so they other is not looking for an invite.

Emily Post recommends you send separate invitations to each address with one seat reserved.

We did that for couples that we were friends with individually. For everyone else, we sent one invitation to our "primary" friend in the couple and simply addressed it to both of them as if they were living together.
