Invite Wax Seals

Erika, on June 14, 2021 at 11:05 AM Posted in Planning 0 11
Hello! I’m thinking about using a wax seal to close the jacket on my invite and rsvp card. This would be placed inside the envelope.

Is it safe to mail with a wax seal through the usps? Is there anything special I need to do or extra postage?

From what I’ve seen it is safe to mail with a wax seal and I believe that the postage is the same. You could always try giving your local post office a call I’m sure it’s different depending on the country and area you live in. Good luck! I’m sure the invitations will be gorgeous!

Like Kaylee said, I haven't heard of any issues with mailing an invitation with wax seals! If you want, you can always make one up with the seal and bring it and an envelope to your local post office, and they can weigh it and tell you whether you can use a normal forever stamp, or have to use special postage!

I mailed with wax seals and it wasn’t an issue. You don’t need extra postage. I would just recommend still sealing the envelope as there’s a small chance the wax seal can pop off in transit.

There shouldn’t be any issues mailing with a wax seal although do seal the envelope itself in case it does fall of. Postage depends on the weight, not the seal. If you have a food scale at home, you can use that to weigh the envelope to determine the postage amount. I would bring them into the post office to have them hand-cancelled to be safe.

I did the wax seals and as long as you keep them slim and not so poofy they will be fine in the mail. I sent myself an invite the way I wanted to send it to my guest with the wax to see how it would turn out. And it came back to me fine.

I'm also planning on doing some wax seals, so that's exciting to hear from all the PPs.

Katie's idea of sending one to yourself as a test is also a pretty good idea.

We just sent out our invites and we used wax seals. No need for the extra postage and from what we've heard from guests they loved the little touch. And I had so much fun getting to put them on.
