Iphoneographer for wedding day?

Nargess, on April 12, 2022 at 5:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
Hi! I’m an August bride in the Bay Area and I’m looking for a day-of iPhoneographer? I have a professional photographer and videographer for my wedding day. However, I really value iPhone content as well - pictures, videos, BTS shots, wedding day tik toks, etc. I’ve asked my MOH and some friends but I feel that the quality might not be up to par. And I can’t clone myself for the day of to get the perfect shots. Anyone know of any services or suggestions?

Talk to your photographer and videographer to see what they can do. Be specific about what you want as they do have the capability to provide the specialized services you are wanting. Also the modern iPhones are very high quality and have actually been used to film a few Hollywood hits recently, according to technology news. Why do you feel that guests are not able to capture quality images that your pros may miss?

Hi! Thanks for your response. I could try to talk to my photographer and see what he says. I just feel that their team is more equipped with professional cameras and will be fully focused on shooting & filming during the time being. From past experience, not many guests are capable of shooting good content on their iPhones - bad quality, blurry, shaky, etc. I myself love to shoot detail shots at others weddings, unfortunately I can’t do that on my own big day.

Out of curiosity, were the “poor quality” iPhone pictures taken from a first or second edition antique model or a newer 11-13 model with better resolution? What’s the demographic of the past guests? An elderly grandma who is accustomed to a film camera will have more difficulty than someone of the current generation who is very experienced in phone photography.

I’ve actually seen an account on Instagram that offers this exact service- it might take me a while to find it again though. It does seem to be getting more popular, and if it's something important to you, I completely understand why you'd want to hire someone.

If you are unable to find an actual vendor for this service, maybe you could reach out to someone somewhat local on Instagram, whose posting style you like, to attend your wedding and do this for you.

Something to think about... if you have someone do this job for you, the chance of them just holding up an iPhone camera in the middle of professional shots is very high and it will ruin memorable moments like down the aisle. I would be cautious about this idea, unless you can guarantee they won't be getting in the way of the professionals. The attached photo is an example of what you could end up with from your hired photographer.
