Ipsy bag

So I'm kind of at a loss for what to do makeup wise. I struggle with sensitive skin so finding makeup that works is an adventure. I want to play around with new colors and products but I also need to be careful with my spending. I'm thinking of trying this out as a smarter, more affordable way to play around with finding my look.

Is the monthly subscription worth it?

It doesn’t let you cancel. A friend of mine tried multiple times to cancel, and they still send and take out of her account. I suggested to her to tell the bank to refund any charges from them.

You're better off to go to an Ulta or Sephora and just ask for a makeover with products that would complement your skin type. Usually the makeover is free as long as you buy a product, and the artist can give you tips and tricks on how to apply the makeup. They'll also be able to suggest products that will keep your skin healthy since its sensitive.

I used to subscribe to the Birch Box, it was helpful for a while, but waiting a month to get new products got old, and sometimes there wouldn't be anything in the box I'd be interested in. Better off to save your $10 and go talk to someone in a beauty store who can look at your skin and tell you what will work without wasting mini versions of products that might not.

Really?? I’ve cancelled mine 4 times and signed back up over the last few years with no issues. I would definitely have your friend call and have them cancel it over the phone since it’s not working online. I’d be pissed lol

As a makeup fanatic, I love Ipsy! I get a ton of new product and it doesn't cost me a lot. I'd say I like about 70% of the products I receive. However, I would not recommend this to someone who isn't a makeup pro. You don't get to choose which items you receive (beyond the basics like choosing your skin tone) and you will receive a lot of duplicate items like mascaras and eyeliners but, not receive a lot of products like eyeshadows.

If you are on a tight budget I would instead recommend going to Sephora and getting a mini free trial done so you can test out the products and figure out which is best for you. Keep in mind though that to get high-quality makeup that will photograph well you will need to spend quite a bit of money on the actual product. It may end up being most cost-effective to hire a MUA for your wedding day (and you won't be as stressed out which is a nice bonus).

I did Birchbox for 6 months and LOVED it. I would try that one! And it was super affordable.

    I didn’t have a problem canceling either..

I did ipsy & Birchbox & it honestly wasn’t worth it for me. I found that I only liked a couple of things each month. I will say that the things you receive in Birchbox are MUCH better than ipsy imo.
