IRS...ID Theft...I'm a DECEASED PERSON??? **RANT**

So DH and I went to file our taxes this past Saturday. I was excited to file as married for the first time Everything went great that day, and despite the balance I owe to the IRS (explanation below), we are still getting a good chunk of cash. Come Tuesday, H&R Block called us to say our return...

So DH and I went to file our taxes this past Saturday. I was excited to file as married for the first time Smiley smile Everything went great that day, and despite the balance I owe to the IRS (explanation below), we are still getting a good chunk of cash.

Come Tuesday, H&R Block called us to say our return was rejected by the IRS. They did not tell us why. We had to make an appointment and go back in, and had to go together. When we arrive, they tell us the return was rejected because my social security number belongs to (cont)

    While pulling a credit report will help you spot if someone is opening up new accounts under your name (and you can do it completely free once a year through annualcreditreport.com), some of the smarter people using a stolen SSN to work won't open up credit accounts.

    Also, you said you are waiting on a refund. Why are you loaning the government YOUR money interest free? I have a refund of $50 this year. That's the best I can get it down to.
