Is 2:00-2:30 too late to start serving brunch?

emjo, on July 16, 2018 at 7:53 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

I love the idea of a brunch wedding, but my favorite venue does not let us start the ceremony until 1:00 pm. Would it be bad to serve brunch that late in the afternoon? We would have a mix of breakfast omelet bar, waffle bar, and also lunch food the traditional buffet most likely. I just really love breakfast food.

Guess it wouldn't technically be called brunch then but you can still serve breakfast foods

No! I find that most places serve brunch until at least 3 or 4. I wouldnt worry at all about it!

Like others have said it's not "technically" a bruch due to time but you can still serve breakfast/lunch foods, I think that gives people more options too! I'm sure it will be lovely!

If it makes you feel better, we are doing "brinner" because we also love breakfast food but wanted to still have a dance party after, our ceremony starts at 3:30, cocktail hour 4-5, then breakfast-for-dinner after that! We're stoked and the guests we've talked to about it are really excited as well! Smiley laugh

Hi Emjo! I wouldn't worry about it. Agreeing with AG, most places serve brunch foods late and there's no rules with your wedding brunch too. Smiley smile I love the idea of a brunch wedding! So unique. Will you be serving "breakfast beverages" too, like mimosas or juices? Smiley heart

It would be fine but I would also include some salad greens as well!

I would love a brunch option around that time and would like it even more since I didn't have to wake up at the crack of dawn to make it to your wedding lol

We are also going brunch, I wanted to get married early so brunch was a natural choice. We are doing a mimosa bar and having a donut cake.

Went to a restaurant yesterday and they serve brunch until 3. I love brunch and was sad we missed it by 15 minutes.

Brunch places here are usually from 12-4pm so I don’t see anything wrong w/ it

I just recently went to a bridal shower that started at noon but they served food around 1:30, and they had both breakfast and lunch food. It was a hit, most people went for the breakfast food over lunch! I think you'll be fine, like PPs said, if you want to throw some salad greens in.

I don't think so! As long as guests know that's when they will eat, maybe list it on your website? 2 PM is late for lunch.

Thank you for all the responses. We are thinking about doing a mimosa bar and a coffee bar. You guys have made me feel much better about the timeline.
