Is 5pm too late for good pictures?

Christy, on December 2, 2021 at 9:37 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7
Hi! I am planning on getting married in JUNE and just learned that 5PM is the earliest our ceremony can start,. Is that too late for good pictures? I'm scared of bad lighting.

5 pm in June will be just fine 😀 It’s late enough in the day that there will not be direct overhead lighting, and you will have at least three hours of light before sunset.

Are you doing a first look? Either way, June is when sunset happens the latest, so you will have no problem! We were married in early May and pictures from 6:00p-7:00p worked perfectly; you'll have even more sunlight in June!

5pm is good if you are getting married in June. The sun should start setting by around 6:30pm. Smiley smile Sunset pics are definitely the best! And I'm sure your photographer knows how to work the lighting to make sure it is hitting you guys just right.

Our wedding was at 6 in mid-July - we didn't do a first look, and the lighting was amazing for photographs. You should definitely be good at 5 in June.

5pm for June should be great timing. You’ll have a lot of light. I’ll be getting married in March and my wedding will be starting at 5pm too. That was suggested by my photographer so we get the perfect lighting! You can always look up when sunsets too so you have a better gage of timing!

We got married in July and our wedding was at 5:30. We started pictures a little after 6.

I would chat with your photographer about what they think! For our August wedding we're doing a first look and family photos before the 6:30 ceremony (sunset is 7:36pm in Coronado, CA on our wedding day) so that ceremony is golden hour and our couple photos are golden hour and sunset! I would also check the time of sunset based on your location, but to me it sounds like you'll be more than fine and that most of your photos will be during the start of golden hour 🥰
