is 6pm to late?

jnehenggeler, on April 5, 2015 at 10:52 AM Posted in Planning 0 31

Do you think 6pm would be to late for wedding ceremony? Im getting married outside in june. Im wanting to start the ceromny at 6pm so its not as hot out but wondering if that would be to late if we dont eat till around 7. Also thought about maybe having some appitizers for the guests while we get pics taken.

That's a perfect time if you are concerned about weather. Our wedding is starting at 6:30 and running to midnight. Love the time because it gives a chance to get day and evening pictures.

Our wedding is starting at 5:30 in July just to give it sometime to cool down. I think a 6pm start time is just fine.

A vast majority of my weddings in the spring and summer, have an invite time at 6:00 with a ceremony start time at 6:30. Cocktails at 7:00, entry into dinner at 8:00, intros/dances tip 8:30 and then the first course.

My ceremony is starting at 7:30. We are not doing a full sit down meal, we are doing a cocktail style reception with heavy hors d'oeuvres and drinks. On our wedding website we are encouraging guests to consider eating dinner or a late lunch beforehand. I don't think 6pm is late at all, just plan your day of schedule out very well so your not running late and guests can eat while food is supposed to be hot.

Our ceremony start time is 6 and dinner is at 7. Our ceremony is outside in July so it would definitely be too hot otherwise. We aren't doing a real cocktail hour since there is such a short gap, but guests are free to go to the bar and mingle with others while we finish off pics.

I originally wanted a later start (about 6) but most of guest have children. I feel that children's bed times/schedule shouldn't be changed due to any event. We'll be finishing up around 8:30 so everyone with kids can get them home to bed and the rest can go to the after party.

My timeline is similar to what Celia mentioned above. Start time of 6, 6:30 cocktail hour, 7:30 into reception, dinner at 8...maybe 8:30, we haven't decided if we're going to get our dances out of the way first or not. We are doing toasts during dinner so that's nice. Cake cutting by 9:30 at the latest, then if people are tired they can leave at 10pm (4 hour commitment tops...although we have no elderly guests, so it's not really an issue). I am also anal about timeliness. We WILL start on time for everything.

Ours is June 4 2016 and it starts at 6pm. Most of the weddings I have gone to have a start time of between 4 and 6 so it's not late at all.

Our ceremony is at 6pm as well. My photographer was super excited about it because by the time the ceremony is over we will be able to get some really nice sunset shots.

I am biased to later start times as well (Ceremony outside starting at 7 but ceremony/reception at same location) but think 6pm is perfect. I personally dislike weddings ending early like at 10pm anyways so prefer later start times.

Our outdoor wedding in September begins at 7pm. It's perfect for a sunset wedding and for outdoor pics, cocktails, and dining.

I don't think 6pm is too late at all, especially in June! Ours will be at 6pm, as well, and we have to be out of the venue by 11. :-)
