Is a bridal clutch/purse necessary

Cassie, on February 10, 2015 at 4:47 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 29

Hi Everyone Smiley smile I've been poking around on Etsy for vintage clutches for my wedding day. Then I got to thinking...what am I going to do with this thing? I somewhat figure my MOH or BM's will be in charge of my phone and anything else I might need. But perhaps I'm wrong? Any advice? Did you use a clutch or do you plan to?

I'm using a clutch my mom has that is about 35 years old, it's white. I plan on putting a few things in there to have handy.

I don't think they are necessary, but I'm sure they are handy. I was thinking of having one.

I was also just thinking about this. I think that I'm just going to give my phone and whatever else to my FH to put in his pockets. I wouldn't want to carry it around with me anyway

@Miss to Mrs. - After partying is a good point. We're going to a couple pubs after midnight and it would definitely come in handy. I may or may not be looking for an excuse to buy another clutch...but oh well!

@Cassie any excuse to buy another clutch is a valid excuse. You should take it!

If you have a charming charlie's near you, they had some cute vintage inspired clutches for like $15

I didn't have anything. My sister/MOH had pockets in her dress so she carried my phone for me (I wanted the phone to take pictures with. She actually took a few pictures and some video of the first dance which was great because we didn't have a pro videographer).

I got a cheap clutch because I thought it was so cute and I wanted to use it for more than just my wedding (which I have). In it I kept my phone, ID, credit card just in case, and my emergeny kit. I mostly kept it in the bridal suit at my venue. I didn't need to take it around with me but I wanted it there, and use it to keep everything together, just in case.

EDIT: My advice, it's worth having to keep everything important and your emergency kit all together. But don't buy one just for the wedding. Get one that you will use other times because it will just sit out of sight at the wedding.

At the bridal shower my aunt gave me my recently deceased grandma's purse that she used for my mom's wedding 25 years ago. It was supposed to be my something old. It meant so much to me but honestly, I didn't use it. I had it filled with some touch up makeup and some freshening up items but I think it was left in my suitcase at the hotel. So I went the whole day without touch up stuff and my phone and you know what? I was okay without it. As long as our wedding day was it still went by in the blink of an eye. If you must have one I would maybe ask your mom or another female relative not in the wedding party to carry it for you. Your MOH will have her hands full with her flowers and yours.

Also I usually ask my husband to carry stuff for me in his pockets when we're going out, but this is his wedding day too so I wouldn't ask him to carry around your phone or lipstick or whatever if you can just find someone else to do it. Do you really want his pockets to look bulky in all of your wedding photos? Even more important it's not really comfortable for him.

I am making clutches for my bridesmaids and our moms. I figure why not make one more for myself. I don't know if I'll use it or not, but it might come in handy to have a place for my phone etc. I figure my moh/sister will hang on to it for me, and her bf can hold it during the ceremony and pictures.

I am a purse girl and I did not miss not having one at my wedding. I put way too much stuff in my MOH's bag that I never used. just borrow from her if you need anything. it was especially nice not to have my phone with me. i left it in my suitcase all day. the only photos i took on it were of me and DH in the elevator riding up to our room

I love my clutch and I'm so glad I had it. I'm a smoker though, and I can't live without my cigs. I also had my lip gloss for touch ups, and of course my cell phone. I was BEYOND blessed. Long before I was even engaged, a friend and I were drinking wine and playing in her (ridiculously large) closet. I came across this clutch and I fell in love. She basically said, "Oh, this old thing? You can have it." It sat in my closet collecting dust, but it was so perfect for my wedding. It's vintage Armani.

I'm a purse girl and literally don't go anywhere without a purse or clutch (even the gym)... not all girls are like that, so they will not understand lol. I bought a clutch ... pretty much for lipgloss and chapstick, maybe some bobby pins. I highly recommend NOT having your phone on you on the wedding day Smiley smile I plan to have it photographed with my accessories prior to the wedding and then having it waiting for me on at the sweetheart table.

This is a good question and I have actually been wondering the same thing. What will I need? Everyone significant who might call me or text me will be there with me, right? This isn't really an answer but I am interested to know.

I had one as my something borrowed. It was a hassle to have around during pictures, the photo assistant ended up carrying it lol

I did use it at the sweetheart table, it had my lipstick and powder that I used.

LOL...I'm sitting here thinking, where did I keep my lipstick and eyeliner on my wedding day? Did I actually have someone shove my purse under the head table? I just celebrated my 33d wedding anniversary, and the only purse that was important was a white silk bag. As you'd walk around greeting your guests, you'd get handed envelope after envelope. You'd put them in this white, silk drawstring purse. Guess what I wanted to do as soon as we got to the honeymoon suite? Hint: it's not what he wanted to do.

I put my everyday big ass purse under my table. I can't fit shit in a clutch. Not necessary.

I'm planning on having one, although I'll be making someone else responsible for it lol. I want somewhere to put my phone, room key, makeup for touch ups and probably some cash and my ID since we'll be heading out for an after party afterwards.

I'll be repurposing a clutch from my mum (it's a sequined structured one) just to hold any meds, phone, anti-bac, card and lip balm. If I can get away with not using my cane, I'll be folding it up and putting it in there to keep it close by.

If you have one you could use or find one that you'll use again - go with it.
