Is a flower girl necessary?

Jacquelyn, on March 6, 2018 at 3:46 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 13

Hey girls so me and my FH are trying to set our bridal party but we don't know of any little girls under the age of 9 who can be a flower girl. We have a full list of boys to be ring bearers but no girls. Do you think a wedding should have a flower girl or it be ok without one?

I think you're totally fine without one. However, I have seen grandmas in the role of the "flower girl" and it was pretty cute.

ETA: I actually wish we hadn't had one because we didn't invite any kids to the wedding other than the RB and FG and we should have extended that all the way into our wedding party.

We aren’t having a flower girl or a ring bearer because we don’t want any kids involved

It will be fine without one.
I was bummed my H's nieces couldn't make it to our wedding, and be a flower girl at our wedding. Well, now I'm happy she wasn't a flower girl at our wedding because at my BILs wedding last month, she was a piece of work.

We didn't have one (despite options available). No one noticed and everything was perfect.

I'm not having one because we don't want kids at the wedding. If I did have one, I'd have to include multiple children to be fair and invite their brothers and sisters, and then it's out of control!

We're not having one, or a ring bearer, much to my FMILs annoyance. lol

    Nothing wrong with skipping it.

I don't have one because I would have to include siblings as well. Same with the ring bearer.

We are not having one mainly because all of our friends and families with kids have little boys. But we also felt like it wasn't necessary for us to have one.

You will not be legally married if you do not have a flower girl. 😂

There isn't really an age limit for someone to be a flower girl. If you have someone a couple years older it's not going to hurt anything. We're actually having both of our grandmother's who are in their late 60's be our flower girls. They love the idea and I think it'll be a fun moment.

We decided not to do flower girls and ringbearers despite having a few options. As cute as I think it would be to have my niece in my wedding, I have several visions of what might happen if she is the flower girl, none of them good. I think my SIL is relieved that she can get a sitter on the day of the wedding and be free to enjoy it.

I've been to two weddings with flower girls; in the first one, of them there were five girls, with the older ones walking with the little ones (this one was very successful; everyone made it down the aisle with no meltdowns) and in the second, the little girl ended up throwing a tantrum and running to her parents.

I don't think they are necessary. I'm not having one, nor a ring bearer. The last couple weddings I went to did not have them either. Smiley smile
