Is a guest book necessary

Sherry, on May 28, 2018 at 10:26 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 2 23

We are getting married in August and this is a second wedding for both of us. We are skipping a lot of the "traditional" things. I wasn't planning on having a guest book at all, but is that weird? Rude? Or no big deal?

No big deal. Think it's more for you to remember who was there or to help send thank yous

It's completely up to you. There are some great alternative guest books, if you just want something different. I was thinking of either a Giant Jenga game or 3D for our wall; or even a wooden book. That being said, I don't feel pressed to have one, at all!

It’s up to you. We are using it for guests to write advices and/or their best wishes for us to remember.

I don’t think it is a big deal at all. I struggled with a guestbook. To me, they often just don’t ever get looked at again, however I found inspiration on Pinterest for an alternative guestbook.

We're using a gold dipped wine bottle that guests can sign in sharpies. This way we can display it in our house

My FH and I are older and having a ceremony with immediate brothers/sisters including spouses and a few friends. We decided a guestbook wasn't necessary. Not throwing bouquet, gater (spelling?) Swing either. Make your big day want you want to include and not include,., customize and enjoy! Good luck...

No big deal! It’s both of our second weddings too. Instead of a guestbook we have a canvas like what is shown here that we can have our guests sign and then hang in our home. We got it on Etsy from the seller alphabetcanvas.

    No big deal. Skip it.

We had a Disneyland art poster in a mat board hubby’s mom gave him years ago. It fit our theme so we had guests sign that so we can remember his mom too.

    No big deal!

For some of my family, it was a big deal to have a guest book (who wants a book you'll only look at once). Rather than fight that battle, I let them be in charge of it and only asked that they have something that we can look at or use as decor. Last i heard, they were getting us one of those picture books with our engagement photos spread throughout all the pages.

I personally wouldn't notice if I went to a wedding and they didn't have a guest book. It's mostly just for you to remember who is there anyway.

I almost skipped. We went with a globe, so it would fit our home really well.

But if it wasn't at a wedding, I wouldn't care at all.

No big deal! You could look into unique, non-traditional ones too if you thought you wanted the guests to sign something.

Sadly, both photographers somehow missed a shot of our guestbook table. Smiley cry There are a few missing shots that still haunt me but considering we have over 1K photos and some killer surprises I can be too bummed. We did a Pirates of the Caribbean inspired wedding. It happens that DH's mom years ago gave him this art as a gift because he loves Disney. She passed away before I met her so it's super cool we have something from our wedding that also includes her. Smiley love Here's a pic I found online. You can get some kick-butt art from Disney, put it in a mat board, and let people sign that. I'm not a fan of guest books because most people just write their name so seems like a waste of money. Have fun planning!

That is cool. I don’t plan on having a book. But I found something else that was cool. I’d post the photo but don’t see the option

I don't think its a big deal to skip! Guests probably won't even think twice about it.

No big deal! We weren't planning on having one but our photographer had a deal for a free guest book with our package so I just did it. I mean, IT WAS FREE!
