Is a Photo Booth worth it?

Fallon, on January 9, 2021 at 9:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 22

Are you booking a Photo Booth for your wedding? We are planning for July 2022 and I'm trying to decide if a photo booth is worth the extra $600? My fiancé doesn't see the point at all. My mom seems to think that they are a really important part of the reception. I'm sort of in the middle. I was thinking about setting up a cool backdrop maybe with a ring light where guests can take their own photos with their phones. What do you think?

I'm with your fiancé. Not something I see as necessary

Went to three weddings in 2019 and none of them had photo booths. Never even noticed until you mentioned one in this post.

I don’t think it’s necessary. My cousin had one and it was fun to take a few pictures but could’ve done without it.

My friend did a backdrop with props and people did take pics in front of the backdrop but didn’t really use the props.
Some vendors may add a photo booth in their package if you really do want one

That's a good point! Now that you say that,I feel like when a wedding has one, I'll use it but if it doesn't have one, I never notice lol.

My DJ does offer it but for an additional $600. I feel like now that we're in a time when everyone has their own phone cameras a fun backdrop may be fun enough for guests!

I don't think they're necessary, especially because they're not wedding-specific -- you can find them at a lot of different events.

If we had had extra budget, I would've done something like a caricature artist or a flower wall backdrop. It's nice to have a fun spot for guests to take their own pictures, so I agree with your idea there!

Personally, I wouldn’t use it if it was available at a wedding. We’re not having one at our wedding- don’t need or want the added expense.

We had one and I definitely think it was worth it. Our guests loved it and I believe every single one of them used it at least once. It also gives people who don't want to fan e or want to take a break from dancing something to do. Our DJ provided ours. It included a book guests could put one of their multiple copies of photos in and write us cute messages so I loved having that.

I love photo booths at weddings!! That said, $600 is a lot to spend so we are going to go the backdrop and ring light option.

It's not something I will be getting and I don't think anyone will miss it! To me it starts to feel like a show when you add more than high quality food, drinks, dessert, music, and good company.

I loved them!! I went to a wedding where we used one, but also I had one at our wedding (free with the venue) and no one used it all.
So it’s really hit or miss.

I'm planning on using a photo booth and backdrop as my favor. But I don't think they're necessary.

Its not required by any means but it does give people things to do if they dont particularly like dancing or mingling. We are getting creative with ours and it will be mostly DIY. We have a couple of instamax minis and film and will have either a scrapbook or a mirror with magnetic clips for people to hang the little prints on (that will later become a scrapbook) as a little keepsake. We plan to have a sign encouraging people to take multiple pictures and leave at least one for our memories!

We had one and it was a blast. Our guests slipped their photo strips into a book and left us phone notes with them, plus they got a copy. It’s a fun keepsake for us. If we had to do it over again, we would book the photo booth!

I don’t think they’re necessary but I think they’re so much fun. We’re having one at our wedding and we don’t mind the extra cost. Plus we really want to give the guests a chance to take pics and post them and use our hashtag

We didn't originally plan on having one but our photographer offered us a really good deal. I don't think it's a necessity

It’s not a necessity by any means, but it can be fun! My brother’s wedding had one. That was over two years ago, and I still have the picture hanging up because I love the images on it so much!
That said, it’s definitely not something guests expect to see. No one will notice or miss it if you choose not to have one.

For our wedding I am making a “photo booth” with a super cute backdrop and then going to set up props and a chair. No need to spend that extra money when everyone wants the pictures on their phones anyway!
