Hi so I had decided the wedding date to be May 30, 2021 because that is our anniversary date and I would love to get married on our anniversary. I also saw it as a good weekend to do so since that year the following Monday is Memorial Day so most people will already have off. I mentioned it to my mother and she commented that people don't get married on Sundays. What do y'all think? Do any of y'all know of someone who has gotten married on a Sunday?

We had a Sunday wedding, Columbus day weekend. Out of the 109 we invited, 97 people attended and you wouldn't have known it was a Sunday from our bar bill. Just be prepared that some people won't be able to attend, but that's true for any day you pick.

I was recently in a Sunday wedding that was not on a holiday weekend. Most who RSVPd yes showed up, and there were not a lot of last minute no shows.

i will say, I’d make sure to time it slightly earlier in the day. Ceremony was at 5:30 and dinner started around 7. A lot of people left after dinner/important dances/cake cutting was done. Only a small amount of people danced (outside of bridal party and their partners) and most headed out around. 9:00. I’m sure in part due to work in the morning. It was less of a party vibe, but everyone seemed to enjoy their dinner and ceremony.

Memorial Day Sunday seems like it’s be similar to a Saturday wedding though since the majority of your guests probably have that Monday off!

It happens, I mean Saturday is obviously by the far the most common but in UK (Not American so don't know what it's like there) Sunday is probably third most common so it's not 'not done' but at the same time it's still quite rare.
You have to be careful, Sundays tend to be harder to travel on so be prepared for less guests you wanted/people leaving early/drinking less etc.if you're fine with that then go for it!

I am not a fan of holiday weekend weddings. We go camping every year on Memorial Day, so we would never be able to attend a wedding that weekend. I'd try for a different weekend. The Sunday thing isn't as bad, guests usually leave earlier though and less out of town guests attend.

With a holiday weekend you may get a lot of people who take trips, but I mean with that much notice they can skip a year for your wedding! I know you might dislike hearing this but I have only been to one Sunday brunch wedding and it sucked... I didn't want to drink cuz it was early afternoon they had cash bar which was ridiculous to me because Sunday weddings are already cheaper, especially brunch. Nobody danced except kids and everyone just sat outside at the courtyard/patio. Kind of a buzzkill.

All this said, if you do a traditional night wedding with dinner your guests will have a blast since they get to be off the next day!!

I have no problem with a Sunday wedding! Infact, we are having ours on a sunday! Was cheaper with reservation costs. We plan on doing a more casual luncheon type of reception than the typical into the night dinner. Its gunna be great!

We are having out wedding on Sunday purely for the fact that it's cheaper! And we secretly hoped it would keep out guest count down. Which it did!

I’m getting married that day too! It’s a common thing now to marry on a Fridays and Sundays.

We got married on Sunday of Memorial Day in 2018 and it was the best thing ever! Most if not all of our guests had it off and we sent out save the date well in advance so they knew about it. If they don't come then they missed an amazing time and a lifetime of memories. Do what is best for you and it will all work out 😊
