Is a videographer worth it?

KittenPurrFace, on August 18, 2010 at 4:14 PM Posted in Planning 0 49

People have told me I will only watch it a couple times, so I should skip it. But I have seen some beautiful ones (like Sharon's!). Thoughts?

I'm having one made. but I'm so sentimental that I know I'll watch it a million times. Plus, it makes a nice addition to thank you cards. I'll be sending out copies I'm sure.

    I see it like this:

Sure you may only watch it a few times, but those few times you watch it will (I assume) be very special: like 10th, 15th, 25th etc anniversary, for your children, etc.

YES, worth EVERY CENT!! I don't remember much from the ceremony or the day of to be honest, I was so stressed out that it was all a big blur, but thanks to me booking a videographer last minute (like 4 days before), I will be able to watch a video and see every second of my ceremony, as it happened. He also did "best wishes to the bride and groom" interviews with guests at the reception, which I am very curious to see as people were getting quite tipsy towards the end (or so I have heard, lol).

Cara - If you can fit it into your budget, I think a video is totally worth it. I've been married for nineteen years (next week!) and we still watch our video every anniversary. It has become a fun family tradition. My teenagers LOVE laughing at the styles/music from "way back then", and I am so glad to have video of all the loved ones that we've lost in recent years (our grandparents, our dads, etc.)

We didn't get a pro photographer or videographer. But if you can afford and WANT it, then go for it. Neither of us could care less. It's just more crap we have to store in the house. LOL. And neither of us is the type to sit around and look at a photos or watch a video.

@Sharon-you know we're not sentimental types. We have crazy kids and crazy dogs. I'm amazed the photobook I made is still intact! Actually most of the stuff in our basement is Christmas decorations because I get a little obsessive with decorating. And the other stuff in there is my off-season clothes. We have 2 10-foot closets in our bedroom, and I keep trying to convince DS that I NEED his closet, too!

Yes, it's worth it. You can hire only one cameraman to save $ and could always limit the time they film to just the ceremony and maybe the first part of the reception when the most important stuff happens. Also limit editing, extra features & extra titles to save $.

LOL Jenn ..you need a storage unit woman! I remember one year I had the bright idea of putting all our xmas stuff in the attic, including the lovely arrangements with candles etc. mmmm, summer in Texas? how hot do you think that attic got? Yep we had puddles of dried candle wax ALL over everything. Smart move eh?
