Is a videographer worth it?

People have told me I will only watch it a couple times, so I should skip it. But I have seen some beautiful ones (like Sharon's!). Thoughts?

Most definately!!!! There will be so many things that day that you will not realize are happening or even get to see because you are gonna be so wrapped up in everything the Bride and Groom have to do... this is a great way to capture all of it! Also... I know from watching my sisters' wedding videos (they are substancially older than I) the video captures people and that is so important once people are no longer with you. My father isn't here and all of my grandparents but they were for my sisters' weddings and it's like seeing them in real life when we watch the videos! It's really priecless.

@ Vanessa - your story has made me change my mind about a videographer. I am DEFINITELY going to work it into my budget.

I really good photographer, as that is more important to me than video. So we're talking about buying a video camera (I've always wanted on anyway) and setting it up to record, at least for the ceremony.

Same here ... at first i didn't think we could have one but after seeing everyone's opinions it really made me re-think about having a videographer and after going over my budget again i realized I over did the florist and made some other adjustments so now we can get one Smiley smile

Are wedding videographers worth it? Here's an article you might want to read on the subject.

I'd rather spend it on the photographer and photos, or in my fiancee's case - liquor for the reception. I have a video of the proposal, and though it was a special moment, I don't think I'll watch it again. I'm not particularly sentimental about that stuff and neither is he. If you're not sure you want one, maybe you fiancee can be the deciding yes or no.

The first thing I search for my wedding was the photographer and the videographer and I'm sure I will love to have a film to watch again and again.

I have done over 50 weddings and every time the first thing a couple tells me is they didn't think video was important but they are so glad they did! Pictures capture a moment, video captures the entire day and more importantly puts those emotions back in motion when you watch it again. So I say, definitely worth it!
