Is age 17 and 18 too old to be a mini groom and bride?

I want to involve my two younger cousins in my wedding, and we already have our wedding party selected. Is it too old to have my 17 yr old god son and my fiancés 18 ur niece to be a mini groom and bride?

They're adults, give them adult roles.

No, don't do that. Can they not just be BM/GM?

"Mini groom and bride" or Jr. Bride and Groom is a really creepy concept to me. Please don't do this.

What is this? They sound too old to be "mini" anything.

Honestly hate the concept and don't find it cute at all - but if you're stuck on it yes they are way too old.

Wow, guys. Just wow. Calling a culture's traditions "creepy" or "weird" is pretty offensive and ethnocentric. It may not be a tradition in our culture, but who are we to judge? It's ironic that the same people here who are quick to point out if someone is not being LGBT-friendly or is being offensive in some other way would make such culturally insensitive statements.

That said, I've never heard of minis being this old and would advise against it in this case.

I'm gonna go with they are way too old. I don't think you should ask them to do it.

If they're old enough to get married themselves, they're too old to be mini bride & groom.

@island - I wasn't aware minis were a cultural thing to be honest. I would never go out of my way to call someones culture or heritage creepy. In my eyes though, at 17/18 years old, these kids are of and almost of legal age to get married themselves. To have them "pose" as mini bride and groom seems off to me.

What culture is it from? All I've found in my research is the American South.

Mini brides and grooms are meant to bring good luck to the marriage, but have since evolved to be something more prevalent in blended family weddings.

That being said, 17 and 18 is too old for those roles to be filled.

I've never heard of this being a cultural thing. What cultures started it, out of curiosity?

Please tell me someone found a picture of this? I goggled and went on Pinterest and only found mini bride and mini grooms that go on the top of cakes.

I badly want to see an example of this because I have never heard of it or its creepiness

@MMB, I've found a few citations of the old American South, but nothing more than that. Most things I read said it was used when a couple with children were symbolically blending their families in the modern age.

What's the point? Do you have a flower girl and ring bearer and then your little bride a groom???
