Is anyone dancing down the aisle?

Jamie, on March 5, 2011 at 8:58 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 19

Saw this on youtube and I love the theory and the thought behind it, I just wish I had the guts to do it.

If my mom were not having hip surgery right before my wedding I would totally be doing it. I don't want her to miss out on busting a move so we won't be doing it.

I am seeing on YouTube where many people are coming up with more creative ways to "go down the isle". I am not dancing, per say, but we are creating something other than just the traditional ceremonial walk. In lieu of flower girls, my 12 year old daughter and her friend are "annoucing the bride" in a creative way. I think it kinda adds some fun to the ceremony. But it has to match your personality or it can also go all wrong. If you are more of a traditional bride, I would just do the traditional walk.

I wanted to do this to add some fun to the ceremony and make it less traditional, but we can't get the whole bridal party together to practice it in order for it to all turn out right. We may be dancing into the reception though and then going right into our bridal dance all together if we can come up with something. Here is my favorite one

^^ omg I love that video! I love weddings that are laid back and simply fun. I don't think we're dancing down the aisle but we are dancing in for the intro into the reception as well as the BMs and GMs Smiley smile

I am all for going against tradition and making the day your own- however it is really sad to me when people duplicate - I have seen videos of a few brides that have parodied the most famous, (JK wedding entrance) and I think it is silly.

FH and I have considered it -- but my dad REFUSES to dance, and I'm lucky he even agreed to do a father daughter dance!! I think FH and I will do a fun first dance song instead of a traditional one.

I won't do it, I like the emotion/romantic vibe that goes along with the bride just walking down the aisle, as opposed to something hilarious..but I do think those you tube videos are cute! :-) i also echo above statement..be sure to practice or that you really go for it..i think for some this dancing part could fall flat and seem awkward lol. But if ur confident in it (and all party members are on board), go for it! :-)

I first saw this at a bridal show by a videographer. Here's the link: http://vimeo.com/10793659

It was hilarious at the time but definitely not for me.

(videomadness.com - video gallery - bridal party music video if link above doesn't work)

Not for the church portion. The Church ceremony is supposed to be solemn and spiritual. For the reception portion, I would definitely be up for a dancing entrance.

It's traditional in my culture for the BP to dance (nothing as big as the JK wedding), a few steps instead of just walking but the bride usually walks, I'm sticking with that. I've always loved that video, strongly opposed doing this in a church, anywhere else is fine. You have to do what you're & your bp are comfortable with.

No, but we are doing something special on the way out. We are going to walk out in the traditional way to some classical music, and then when we are almost all the way out it's going to cut off and the peanut butter jelly time song is going to come on and we are all going to bust a move!! We are having a garden wedding and peanut butter jelly time is kind of an inside joke so I think it is not only appropriate but also expected. I cannot wait, it's going to be hilarious! And then once we have all danced out the string quartet will start back up.

Love the videos! Those are so adorable! Maybe I can talk to BP into a little something, but we are so reserved. I wish we weren't, I have craziness in me but have no dancing ability to back it up. We are having to take dance lessons for the reception. My FH and I are all heart on the dance floor, but we are the couple people point and laugh at..lol.. I embrace my inner dork!

Speaking from the persepctive of a guest, I went to a wedding where the bridesmaids did a little step as they walked down the aisle. It was terrible because it took too long. The processional was over 30 minutes long (yes, I timed it). My neck got sore looking back so much to see what was happening. I finally got bored and turnd around to wait for the flower girl to come down the aisle because I knew the bride would be next.

I thought it was tawdry and silly (especially for a bride that was in her 40's).

Exactly what Miya said...a church wedding is supposed to be solemn and spiritual, so hell would freeze over before we did something like that. I also just think the whole "dancing down the aisle" thing is getting tired and played out though...it's not original anymore when EVERYONE has seen the video and knows that you're just copying someone else's idea. Meh. Dancing into the reception is fine, but again, played out in my opinion, especially when the BP looks like they're trying too hard.

Okay, that video brought tears to my eyes. What an awesome way to celebrate a union. Definitely a joyous occasion, and they picked the perfect song. Kudos to them!!!
