Is anyone else sad about changing their name?

So my last name is very unique, Magaziner (yes it sounds like magazine with an R on the end) and I've loved how different it is! My brother is married to someone much older and won't be having kids most likely which means basically we are the last ones from our immediate family to carry the name and...

My brother is married to someone much older and won't be having kids most likely which means basically we are the last ones from our immediate family to carry the name and that makes me sad :-(...I would keep it but I'm super traditional and FH is also the last guy in his family so we have the pressure of having a boy to carry on his name!

I can't wait until we are married but I'm totally sad this is the last time I'll have my last name haha

My last name is Jacobs and I CONSTANTLY get asked if I'm Jewish. I'm not, but I'll be happy that people don't ask anymore!

I'm glad to see my last name go, tbh. It sounds like a popular fast food choice. I have a couple nephews with my last name, so I won't worry about my name dying out. I'm going from U to F and I love the etymology of FH's name. It came from Feather-Man (a scribe) and since I'm a writer, it is really nice!

I was a little sad about changing it too. My sister is also married so her last name changed as well.. It was just a headache going through the process of changing the last name.. I'm so glad I'm done with that though.. lol Good luck.

I am both excited and sad. To me, sharing a last name with my almost hubby (and our eventual children) makes it really seem like a family unit and I am excited for that. But some of my family members have done a lot of genealogy research and there is a lot of family history. Changing my name doesn't change the family history, but I feel like it somehow distances me from it more than I want. I considered hyphenating, but it sounds a bit funny, probably because we both have 1 syllable P names.

I'm sooooo glad to get rid of my last name. I kept my last name the same when I got divorced just because it was easier, but I am SO SICK of making reservations somewhere in my name and arriving and being greeted as Mr. and Mrs. Rusk, FH being called by my ex's last name!

My maiden name was Smith, so there wasn't much to go back to anyway, but it would still be better now than having him referred to by my ex's last name. Hind sight is 20/20.

I am so excited to change my last name. I dislike it with a passion. So bad that my FH told me I could go ahead and change it to his before we were even engaged. I will be filling out the paperwork the next day if I can.

I'm happy and sad. I can't wait to marry FH and share everything with him, including his last name. But I love my last name, I love telling people how to spell it and I think my signature looks good, that's why I am practicing to make my new last name look as good Smiley smile

I'll be shortening mine from 7 letters to 5, so that will be weird. Our friends call us Shojo. I am Hamblen and he is Osmin. I am still deciding about whether to take his fully with my middle Desiree or just drop my middle name and pass it to future generations. However since both last names end with N I can keep the star I do at the end of my last name in my signature. Smiley smile I have about a year and a half to go thankfully!
