Is anyone else searching for a new job while wedding planning?

My FH and I just moved into a house a couple weeks ago. I haven't had a yard in 5 years, so I'm loving it. We are also getting married 3 months from today (yayyyy!). My FH and I just moved into a house a couple weeks ago. I haven't had a yard in 5 years, so I'm loving it. We are also getting married 3 months from today (yayyyy!). There's a lot of changes happening, but I'm going to try to also start a new job. I have been in my position for about 8 months, but I have been with my current company for over two years. It's become increasingly clear within the last few months that this isn't what I want for myself long term and I'm trying to find something new. Has anyone else searched for a new job knowing they have time off within a couple months of starting? How do you address that? Have companies automatically decided to go with another candidate?

I agree - not matter the nature of the company. I just picked up a part time gig to supplement my income and I was upfront: I have tickets out of town in early April - how can I request that time off? I would think any company will honor preplanned wedding plans.

The company that I am having my final interview tomorrow with will honor it. That was also the benefit of working with an external recruiter on this position. I could ask her questions about how to address it and she then communicated it to the company. They were completely fine with it. I just have other apps out and interviews scheduled with other companies. I'm going to wait when brining it up with them unless they ask about time needed off upfront.

I am looking at switching school districts for next school year. I will be moving about 120 miles from where I live now because we currently do long distance in Southern California. I understand your concern about time off. Be upfront from the get go. That’s really all you can do.

I agree, it is recommended to inform your perspective employer of your needed days off when you have been provided with an offer. You don’t want to inform them prematurely and risk missing a job opportunity. Most employers will accept these days off but they prefer for the days off to be taken consecutively. Some will work with you to see how you can get paid for those days (since you probably wouldn’t have accrued enough pro), if it be working more hours or offering overtime.

I know this is super old, but I have a career update! I have accepted an offer and start with my new company just two weeks before my wedding! They knew about the time off and were supportive.
