Is anyone having a geeky/nerdy wedding?

The fiancee and I are geeky people. Actually got together because of our mutual love of Stargate, and plan on having the fandoms that we are a part of be represented in the reception. Anyone else doing anything like that?

I think the groomsmen are going to have pokeball cuff links and then I'm going to get a garter with an 8-bit heart on it. If I decide to do a grooms cake I will get a pokemon cake topper for it.

@Helena - That's awesome! Our mothers would have hysterics, but our dads would get a great laugh!!

FH tossed out the idea of doing the Spaceballs wedding:

    "Do you?" - "Yes"

    "Do you?" - "Yes"

    "Great, you're married"

I sort of nixed that idea. :-)

We're doing classic wedding with nerdy touches from multiple fandoms! Our ring-bearer will carry a box with a Lord of the Rings design on top (the One Ring and an Elvish inscription). i'll have a Princess Bride cake topper somewhere in the decor. The escort cards and tablenames will be from literature we love, including probably Tolkien and some classic sci-fi. The readings likewise will be from our favorite literature (on appropriate themes)

ETA - I seriously thought about R2D2 or Lego cake toppers. We're entering to Everything Is Awesome from the Lego Movie. And we thought about having the centerpieces be old-school games. Then we decided it would probably get lots of glasses knocked over and maybe light something on fire (because I also love candles)

And I'm DYING to do some of the Star Wars homage photos I've seen online!

We added a couple nerdy touches. I bought him Star Wars cuff links for day-of gift (one said "I love you," the other said "I know.") I also had my dad make a ring box with 'Always' carved into it that RB carried down the aisle. Oh, and we walked into our reception to the Star Wars theme.

    @TwoGeeksWed - I love those centerpieces!

We are doing our wedding with geeky touches. Our ceremony music all be geek themed from different games and shows we both love. My wedding ring will be Legend of Zelda themed and we are reading our vows off of Supernatural themed scrolls. Along with other touches throughout the attire and reception.

We are including various geeky aspects to the wedding wherever we can, our cardbox is a Mario coin block, our invite is going to be a comic book, our bouts and bouquets are paper flowers made from recycled comic book paper, imperial march as our entrance song to name some.

We are having a star destroyer groom's cake at the reception. We would do more but the families want something semi serious.

FH and I met while working at a laboratory.

We are using science beakers/flasks for our centerpieces and I just finished our table seating chart...I call it the Periodic Table of Seating!

I've done the Princess Bride before. Smiley laugh I'm dying for the day that someone emails me asking for a Klingon ceremony.

FH and I are super nerdy! We are thinking of having the tables be favorite comics/movies/books. I love the heart shaped cut out of comic books instead of flowers for flower girls to throw! So cute. We will probably have some sci-fi or comic book elements. Wedding meets Professor Xavier's house for gifted children ..

A stress-induced fight lead us to have "The Imperial March" from "Empire Strikes Back" as our processional and the theme from "Superman" as our recessional. That was it, though.

We are having a Zelda grooms cake, entering the reception to the teenage mutant ninja turtles theme song, and our save the dates are Zelda. I am sure a couple other things will sneak in as planning continues.

The extent of my nerdiness at this wedding will be our Superman cake topper.... but I got married to my ex back in 2004 on the bridge of the Enterprise from Star Trek TNG. This was back when the Hilton in Vegas had Star Trek The Experience. I decided to go a bit more traditional with this wedding lol

Nintendo themed wedding here. Pixel heart soaps for favors, our cake will have a tier if 8-bit brick and a piranha plant going up the side, and a Zelda chest for our card box, plus a few other touches. And we'll have a WiiU at the reception.

    These are my shoes...

FH proposed to me with a TARDIS he built that opened with a Sonic Screwdriver. The ring was sitting on the console. So, we're incorporating Doctor Who touches into the wedding!

TARDIS blue and purple are our colors. Our first dance song is Chances by Athlete, aka the beautiful song that plays at the end of Vincent and the Doctor. We are going to build a CARDIS (a TARDIS card box).

Also, a nerdy jewelry company custom made for me a TARDIS bouquet charm with the Something Blue saying on it.
