What birth control do you have that you drink it?

No, I'm not. If it comes, it comes.

    This is a common discussion.

OP, do you not want your period on your wedding day just because you want to have sex?

    OR

Do you not want your period on your wedding day because you experience debilitating cramps, bloating and/or other issues that are associated with your period?

    ETA: @H hahaha. Fantastic.

My periods are a NIGHTMARE. I have PCOS and for at least 2 days I usually can barley move. Bleeding isn't an issue for me, it's pain. I did the math and it looks like I'll have my period about 5 days after my wedding. If you want to skip your period that month just skip the end week pills in your pack and start the next pack right away. Consult your doctor first though!

I'm getting married on Friday and got my period last night. I knew it was going to happen as my cycle is very regular. I'm just happy it'll be gone before they honeymoon!

Every motherfucking time somebody asks about their period there are a slew of people with comments like: just wear a tampon, why is it any different than any other day, what's the big deal, etc...

CMON?! It's different than any other day because you're wearing a friggin WHITE piece of clothing that may be really challenging to take off and put back on. So if you have a HEAVY flow and need to change your tampon a lot obviously it's not like any other day.

Furthermore, these comments hugely discount people that struggle with PCOS and other extremely painful conditions that cause debilitating pain during your first day of your period or maybe additional days.

If you have manageable periods and no pain, count your lucky stars, because a lot of other women don't.

ETA: Also a lot of women cannot take BC.

I didn't have mine, we managed to plan around it.

I can however, say that menstrual cups are awesome - I use the Softcup ones (one-use, disposable) - they take some getting used to as far as placing them goes, but they definitely do the job for the whole 12 hours (and sorry TMI, but I have very heavy periods).

I always see these threads and I second some of the posters here, because I usually see the 'just like you always do posts' and as someone else with terrible periods and endometriosis, it was a big deal for me. I am on birth control now and that has helped so much with the debilitating cramps and heavy flow, but I still get a massive migraine like clockwork on every 4th Friday. Sometimes the headache lasts a full two days, and I am in bed with an icepack unable to function at all. Every. 4th. Friday. It completely sucks, and my doctor has tried many things to try to help balance the hormones to no avail yet.

Moral of the story is that not everyone is lucky enough to have light and pain free periods. For me, having my period on my rehearsal night/wedding day would have been an absolute nightmare so I did indeed look at my calendar before booking the date Smiley smile

I'm on the pill and the moment FH and I realized our original elopement date I would be on my period we decided to change the date. Then again, an elopement is much easier to change the date since we hadn't hired vendors yet. My FH and I have been waiting to have sex and I know my emotions would be a wreck, not to mention the cramping, the week right before the wedding. Just plan correctly and you should be fine.

I have endometriosis, I'm also hypovolemic. I'm still not planning my wedding around my period, because a year out it's impossible to really pin point when it would happen. I am on iv fluids an extra day during that week, just so the fatigue and dizziness isn't that bad. The cramps pain is excruciating. I've had 5 surgeries due to endometriosis, including an oophorectomy. And I STILL don't plan my life around my period. I'll pop some aleve, rest up and push through if I happen to get it around my wedding day.

I don't think it's rude or harsh to say: "I'm doing what I always do, using a tampon." It's blunt and honest. We shouldn't tip toe around topics like this for fear of upsetting someone. It's a period, we've all been dealing with it long enough to know how to handle it. Some use cups, some use tampons or pads. Some skip their BC. No answer fits everyone. We're all different, with different bodies. All we can do is answer how WE handle or would handle our period.

If you're that concerned, speak to your doctor. None of us here are qualified to answer any medical questions or offer medical advice.

I don't say this to be harsh, or mean, I say it because again, NONE of us are the same. What works for one, won't work for another. All we can do is offer what WE do.

I've been on and off birth control since I was 15 for my endometriosis & PCOS. I've been off of it for the last two years as we were TTC but it hasn't happened....so I ordered a year's supply of continual dose BC that I'm going to start taking after this month's cycle. I'm due for my period literally on our wedding day, give or take 24 hours. Originally I was just thinking about moving my period by a week, but now I've decided I'd like to just skip it entirely for a while. This way I have a few months to get through the break through bleeding, and I can always go off of it again if my body doesn't react well to the hormones.

Also there are several of us here that are very curious about the whole "drinking" your BC, OP. Please come back and tell us what kind of voodoo this is.

Yeah I am worried. I've been on the pill for years. I thought an IUD would stop my periods but I had to get mine removed.

I take bc every day so I don't ever get periods...problem solved. My doctor has no issue with it. If that's what you are doing now, why go off of bc?

It would def suck a bit but hopefully I won't have bad cramps if it happens. I use a tampon and wear thinx underwear (it is amazing for anyone who hasn't heard of it). As for sex, me and my fw literally already discussed it and it probably won't happen anyways cause we are going to have a house full of out of towners sleeping over and we are probably going to be exhausted lol. We are also having friends stay with us the next night too. We leave for Greece the day after that and plan to have lots of sex there when we are actually alone lol. Doesn't matter if we are bleeding or not lol

I am on mine now. Since I'm on BC, it's very regular, and should be very light on Sat. Besides, I'd much rather have in on the wedding day than on the honeymoon!

Ugh, I have mine counted out. I have the paragard, so cycle is still natural without hormones, so I unfortunately don't have a way to make it go away.

But - of course, I'm expected to get my damn period the day of my wedding. And I recently switched to a non-hormonal method, so my periods are seriously insane and very messy. I wish there was a natural way to stop my period from happening, but I guess I'll just have to hope that luck is on my side.
