Is having a seam down the middle of a veil weird?

Jessica, on May 6, 2019 at 12:56 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 4

I bought silk tulle on a really good price on a trip a few months ago to Thailand with the intention of using it for a cathedral veil. I have enough for the length, but didn't realize that 54 inches is a bit narrow for a cathedral veil. Has anyone seen/made a wider veil by sewing two pieces together? Is this weird?

Ok, so to preface, I have no experience with sewing. I was mentally picturing what you are describing, and tried to think of alternatives. Could you perhaps do a 3 panel design rather than a 2 panel design? This would move the seams to the side and they would be much less noticeable? Similar to the bottom of this dress pattern:

Hey Jessica! Perhaps if you brought your veil material to a seamstress they might be able to come up with some ideas on how to make your veil work with a seam.

Although, Shannon did have a great idea! Smiley love

I have a cathedral length veil I bought on eBay and it has a seam. I’m not using it bc it’s too much for me. I’ve seen where they have applied lace appliqué up the center to cover the seam and it looks intentional with the design. Mine doesn’t have that and it bugged me but mine is black. If I were wearing the veil I’d probably place appliqué on the seam.
