I think it's perfectly fine to convey what type of event you would like even if someone else is planing it. Hopefully your friends know you well enough not to surprise you with something you wouldn't like. Bach parties don't have to be all strippers and booze. You could do a casual get together, a spa day, going camping- whatever you're into. The point is to have fun with your friends. It isn't necessary, but it could be fun!

We're doing a joint bach party with dinner and drinks at a place with a pool a couple of days before the wedding, which my MOH is planning because she loves to plan stuff.

Not necessary. Neither DH or I had one (or a WP). My friends are also segmented in different groups so it may have felt weird to bring everyone together. Two of my friends took me to a lovely bridal brunch (and decorated the table with fairy stuff which they know I love) and it was sooo nice!!!

I feel very lucky to have them, thank you. I am also planning with them, I don't see what the big deal is, in our circle the bride always helps plan it.

If you don't want one it's certainly not necessary, but it is really fun to celebrate with your girls! We always do dinner and then a scavenger hunt bar crawl and it's low key but really fun. That said, you don't need to plan your own! Your MOH/BMs should be planning it if they chose to throw you one (but I don't hold to the "rule" that you can't bring it up to nudge them in a certain direction, it helps them out to know what you want or that you want one to begin with - we all have busy lives!)

MEH who cares about etiquette, jeez people get so obsessed with that.

I decided on location for mine, and I am even contributing to the cost because we are going on a 3 day trip. I wanted all my girls to have fun including me and not be stressed.

    Hello Anna,

I believe it usually depends if the bride wants it our not.

So happy to hear that you have the chance to do a bridal brunch that your friends were able to throw you something nice and personal.

    Randa,

I can see that different brides tend to have different views that I respect. But I do appreciate this forum to help me down to brainstorm something better that everyone will like to enjoy.

Thank you for your feedback. I will keep your advise in mind and make sure to let my friends know what I will enjoy to do having them there with me like it could be like a Spa treatment or any other great idea.

I am pretty sure you have so many things going on that you feel that is not necessary to do. Wish you the best in your special day.

It is so true sometimes there are websites that you can take advantage and be able to find good deals. Sometimes some decorations even if it would be from a dollar store they have nice designs. I can surely say that I have done rental for the gift box and other decorations that will bring a great touch.

Thank you, Erika! It was really sweet and they invited my mom. They decorated the table with gifts for me: flowers, fairy statues, and chocolates.

I'm personally just doing dinner and drinks with a small group of friends and my bridesmaids. I didn't want anything too crazy.
