Is it just me or is your photographer unresponsive?

It honestly makes me nervous. I sent her an email yesterday with some basic questions and she hasn’t responded, yet she’s had time to update her instagram stories no problem. Does this happen to anyone else? She takes a straight week to respond to my emails. And while our wedding is a bit of time away (12/18/21), I just fear she will leave us hanging for a week when we don’t need that extra stress that close to our wedding date. I just don’t understand why it is so hard to reply to an email from your client within 24 hours.

I know vendors have been crazy busy this year, with postponements from 2020 to this year, as well as weddings already scheduled for this year. I would give her up to a week to reply, and then reach out again.

A week for a photographer isn’t bad, expecting a response in 24 hours is a little extreme. This is definitely a thing where they prioritize immediacy — she probably has a wedding (or 2 even) this weekend, so they come first, as does the editing for a wedding that happened a month ago— to you an email might take a second, but as a business, a lot of time goes into the wording of a response. Actually a longer response time may be good here, she’s putting thought into carefully answering each question , versus a quick yes or no which may not fully answer everything. Not a red flag to me. Also, our photographer had a day job, and weddings were a weekend gig. She was busy! She took a while responding but when she interacted with me, I had 100% of her attention — which to me was much better than a quicker, less attentive response

Our photographer takes a 3-7 days and like previous posters said, they are really busy

24 hours to reply to an email for a wedding that many months away is expecting a little too much. Especially since COVID through all of these vendors into a situation where they now have 1-3 weddings a week. A lot of my vendors didn’t start really communicating regularly until 4 weeks out. I would give people at least a week to respond at this time.
