I've seen reception games on Pinterest and was wondering is that like necessary ? Is it funner or does anyone recommend alternatives?

We had a great dj and an open bar and there was no need for any games.

The only games I would even consider playing if I were a guest would be beer pong or cornhole. But that's just me.

Not necessary. But we're thinking about having something as an alternative. Not sure what. FH's family doesn't drink, probably won't do too much dancing (music won't be their taste), but they like card games.

I'm having a game and coloring table for the kids. Between me and fiance we have 6 kids that will be 10 and under when we get married. Plus our BP's kids and the immediate families' kids. That by it's self is like 18 kids.

Definitely not!! Unless you are having a backyard, casual wedding games do not belong there!

I am doing those at mine!!! But here's why.

My wedding is in my literal backyard by our private lake and the reception is in our pole barn. I love smores, like oddly love them, so we are having a bon fire. Considering we are taking a limo with the wedding party to get some good off site pics after the ceremony, and it fits with our outdoor theme, I'm having games.

Also, I don't have much invested either. We already had cornhole, so I just used leftover paint to paint it the wedding colors. I used 2x4's to make my own giant jenga, my dad has ladder golf, and my FH has been talking about putting in horseshoes since we bought the place.

I also wanted to have the reception and the wedding site to feel casual, about half the wedding party is from rural Montana, so everything sort of fits with the crowd. Not everyone dances and I don't want anyone bored after flying half way across the country.

End of the day... "do you". If someone complains about a free party, then they were going to find something to complain about regardless.

Absolutely not necessary. We will have yard games for the BBQ welcome reception on the huge lawn at our venue the night before the wedding. We may leave the games out for the cocktail hour at the wedding, but really, it will be for the kids if anyone.
