Is it normal to have bad dreams about your wedding?

Arline, on January 26, 2018 at 10:29 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 23
Is it normal to have bad dreams about your wedding? Last night I had to me a bad dream, my FH just said I was just having a dream no bid deal. I have an 11 year old son and a 19 year old daughter, they are giving me away. I dreamt that I had issues the day of the wedding with my ex husband getting my son to my wedding on time, and then that my daughter was suppose to take him home, but didn't, and he was left no one took him home, no one asked him how he was getting home not one family member who volunteered to do the clean up even offered to take him with them. He was just left. I didn't sleep much after the dream and now I'm afraid of what could happen. Ugh I hate having bad dreams. But is this normal? Thanks

Those types of dreams are perfectly normal. I kept having one where I was going into church after church, but they were all the wrong churches.

Oh, heck no. Brides having the dreams aren't "scared". It's stress.

Yes. Just last week I dreamt that my tent didn’t get the letter. My tent is my WHOLE wedding

Ugh can’t edit. Didn’t get DROPPED OFF is what I was trying to say. 2pm the day before the wedding and it takes at least a day to set up

I think anything that is on your mind as much as a wedding will turn up in your dreams. Don't stress about it.

I had a dream the other night that my father insisted on walking me down the aisle in a big snowsuit and toque, he wouldn't listen at all when I tried to convince him to take it off. We happily strolled down the aisle and none of the guests seemed to notice but, I was quite flabbergasted in my dream. I think it is because the men's attire has been on my mind lately.

These dreams are normal but, it may be trying to tell you something. Have you figured out transportation and what is going to happen with your son the day of? If not, maybe this is a good opportunity to think it through and come up with a plan.

    It is completely normal!

I've been having more of them lately. I usually take them as an indicator to take a step back and breathe. Just remember to not dwell on them much.

Totally normal! Just stress, I'd think. I've had a few where my wedding day came and I wasn't prepared at all - my vendors didn't come, nothing was ready, the ceremony never started... I honestly have no worries about my FH or getting married whatsoever, so I don't know what else they'd be from.

I think our minds just go to weird places sometimes and it manifests in our dreams. I seriously had a dream last week about Godzilla coming to kill everyone. And I've never even seen Godzilla. I was in a huge mansion This-Is-The-End style with people from elementary school I haven't seen or talked to in years and I woke up before he killed us all. Dreams are just weird sometimes, doesn't mean anything.

Oh it’s perfectly normal and there are often threads about wedding dreams.

I had a dream that I forgot my bra at home and tried to buy one at some stores near my venue, but none had my size. And then when I went back to the venue, the elevator no longer had the floors I needed. I was running around Manhattan in a short bridal robe and slippers and completely missed the wedding cause all the entrances just disappeared haha. Guess my dreams are telling me to triple check that I pack everything so I don’t have to waste time and risk being late for my wedding.

I had my first wedding nightmare this week too! And my friend (who is getting married exactly a month before me) had one last week too, so right on schedule.

In mine the photographer missed me going down the aisle, the officiant took off in the middle of the ceremony, and the caterer served left overs from the night before! I'm guessing this is normal and I'm not surprised they seem to be stress induced!

I had one the other day that 0 of the people we sent save the dates to showed up, and that our dj was playing not one of the songs we requested. I took a look around and realized no one I expected to come was there and they refused to play any single song I wanted. I was mortified then woke up. It’s beginning

Oh man for me they're nearly constant. Often I'm wearing my dress to the rehearsal and then like... it IS the wedding but it's way too soon and nothing's right and I'm so sad.

Planning a wedding is super stressful, and that WILL come out in your subconscious at night Smiley laugh

I keep dreaming that all of a sudden it's the day of the wedding and we're still at the same point in planning that we're at now, almost a year and a half out! "Oh no, it's time for the wedding already? We never worked out a menu with the caterer! No flowers? Oh well! Does the wedding party even know who they are? I guess we'll just wing it! Etc." Hahaha it's always nice to wake up from that realize that I still have plenty of time to make everything go right!

I think (or at least I hope) it's normal because it's happening to me too! I had a dream over the weekend that my Officiant (one of my best friends) was MIA the day of.. and then showed up 30 minutes late DRUNK... and that all the guests left when the wedding didn't start on time...and that I couldn't find my dress because my OCD neat freak mom covered it with the duvet after she insisted on making the bed in the guest room... the list of issues could go on for a mile... but I am thinking it's gotta be normal!
