Is it ok to decorate your house with personal photos??

Opinions please! I've been looking for ideas for a gallery wall and I have found a few I like. And while we are newlyweds, I would love to have wedding photos on it. Not just of my FH and I, but him with his guys, and me with the girls, and the kids in our lives, etc. obviously as we start a family...

Not just of my FH and I, but him with his guys, and me with the girls, and the kids in our lives, etc. obviously as we start a family the pictures will change, it won't be wedding photos forever. But I love pictures and love having them all over my walls. I love being reminded of fun memories. I have been looking online and apparently a lot of people think you shouldn't put pictures on display in public rooms. It's tacky or whatever. I completely disagree. I love pictures in my home and love seeing pictures in friend's homes: But that's just my opinion, I want yours! What do you think?

I actually agree that it can be tacky.... if you literally have no other decor other than pictures of yourselves, it just seems conceited to me (and not that creative). I'm just more into art as decor, but we do have a few pictures from our wedding in the office and in small frames around the house. I don't judge people for it obviously because it's their home and choice, but I personally lean towards less is more in this regard.

I think it might depend on how you were raised. My mom had tons of photo albums that we looked through, but didn't hang up any pictures of us until my brother and I got our senior photos printed for her lol.

I think family pictures add more character. I babysit a lot from care.com so I don't always know the people all that well when I start babysitting and I like looking at them. My moms living room,is still filled with my senior pictures. The guy that printed them made a large picture of our favorite one then had smaller ones of all the others around it. Not gonna lie, its kinda odd because my parents don't have pictures of themselves in the living room and I'm an only child. But we have pictures of my grandparents throughout the house as well.

I thought it was nice to see our hosts' wedding pictures when I air b&bd that one time. But I get why people would avoid doing that. It definitely made me feel like I was in someone else's home. Which I was. But that reality can be uncomfortable to others.

Absolutely okay! I never realized before WW that some people thought it wasn't!

I mean, maybe keep the boudoir photos out of the more public spaces, but it's YOUR home, you're allowed to personalize it.

It's not like I run a business and have plastered a wall of kissy photos in the waiting room, this is my home, the only people I invite into it are close friends and family members. It would be stranger if they were oddly offended of pictures of us or our precious children on the walls. What?!

I have never, ever heard of this being tacky. Everyone does this. It's what houses are for. It's what cameras and picture frames are for.

Fucking dying over here at Gym's comment.

Anywho, I've actually never heard that having personal photos displayed in your OWN HOME is tacky. I think all the houses I've ever been to have family pics on the wall.

ETA: I agree with Jacky. Where the fuck else are these pictures supposed to go?? It just doesn't make sense.

FH and I disagree on this. I love seeing wedding photos in people's homes. FH thinks having photos of yourself in your home is self-absorbed.

Do whatever you want!! I know a lot of people that have walls of pictures in their home. FH and I use the refrigerator for pictures. Walls are full of art. Not sure what we'll do with wedding pics. We may just make an album.

We have an 8x10 of us at the wedding and a 5x7 of us with our wedding party all on the mantel, totally fine. Then we have a small table with a digital photo album my mom gave us that happens to be loaded with some wedding photos, although I'll probably change them out after this year with non wedding photos. The straw that broke the camel's back is I bought a giant 3 panel poster sized pic of us on our wedding day to put on an opposite wall. My DH said the living room is becoming a shrine to the wedding and it's getting tacky. I guess I see his point. It seems like the guys find it tackier than girls.
