Is it okay not to have a limo?

Coffee&tea335, on May 31, 2014 at 10:32 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 58

FH thinks it would be an awful lot of money just to look nice getting in and out of a car. We were discussing maybe having just our own cars and driving ourselves. Is this completely crazy? It would save us a lot of money to put towards more memorable things in the wedding, and we don't really need to have a fancy car in our pictures either. Thoughts? We in our early 20's so I think people would understand us not wanting to spend all that much, but I don't want to look too childish either. Also, I would definitely have some sort of shuttle for the end of the night and guests who drink.

No limo here. It's only a few miles from my hotel to my venue and I'm not changing location for my reception

I personally think they're overrated, anyway.

No limo. Most have 3 hour minimums and we don't need one that long so it seems like a waste. FH has a really nice car and he loves to drive so we're just using that. I'm riding with my bridal party to the ceremony site because we're doing brunch a few other things along the way.

It is totally okay. We are not doing a limo either because nobody will see us even getting off the limo and the ceremony and reception are at the same site. Honestly it is really up to how you feel about it!

We didn't do a limo, most of the bridal party rode the shuttle from the hotel, and I rode my car to the venue with two of my BM's, didn't matter, and nobody cared.

I am not doing a limo either, also i am having a country wedding so people in my area would probably think it was weird to have a limo! lol

I don't care how close your venue is from your venue, or how close your venue is to your ceremony site. If you plan on having, even a single cocktail at your wedding, please DON'T DRIVE. We are paying $450 for a limo and a ride home in a town car for our wedding. If you can't afford that, and you plan on drinking, AT ALL. Please at least take a cab.

We are definitely planning on having a shuttle at the end of the night to drive guests and ourselves back, and wouldn't be drinking before the ceremony anyways. But thanks!

I don't plan on doing limo service. Renting a luxury sedan for the day is more economical.

We aren't doing a limo. we are doing a town car though, it's a bit cheaper, i think.

the hotel we blocked rooms at is providing shuttle for all our guests staying there. so that's one thing we didn't have to worry about... which is nice.

I don't plan on using a limo either, my ceremony and reception are at the same place. Since our venue is a country club we're allowed to use the locker rooms to get dress (their pretty fancy). I figured we could just leave in our car.

We're not having one, the venue is 15 minutes from our house so I'm riding with my dad there, our hotel is literally across the street from the venue and it has a cross walk and a police officer there so drunk guests can stumble across the street, FH is planning on driving his car to the hotel and parking it there during the wedding so we have a car the next morning

No limo here. Driving myself to my venue and then giving my car to my brother to take home and hoping in FHs truck to go to the hotel.

I'm not having one. FH and I are not doing a first look, so i think it would be selfish for us to drive around in it all afternoon taking pictures before the ceremony and him and his guys not get as much time in it. so, my boss offered to have her husband drive us around in the RV Smiley smile pretty fricken classy!! haha but my thoughts are a) its free, b)theres a bathroom and a fridge for DRINKS and snacks!, c) very roomy and comfy. so who cares!! i think limos are kinda going out anyway. very expensive for what you need it for. we plan on just having whoever can take us who hasnt been drinking back to our hotel, or taking a cab -- even classier...but better safe than sorry.

We are getting a shuttle for our guest as well, and we will be using it too. We were quoted $420 for all Day, so it will be the BP transport to and from the hair appointments and to the venue, it will also take guests to and from the venue.

We are thinking about getting a classic car for the grand exit, but if that doesn't work out, we'll take the shuttle to the hotel with our guests! Smiley smile

Honestly, limos are pretty overrated. I've been in enough limos to know I do not want one for my wedding. If I was to spend that kind of money on transportation, I would just rent a super expensive sports car for the day.

No limo needed here either. Our venue is at a historical estate, garden wedding. They allow us 2 hours to get ready in the bride and groom rooms, there just doesn't seem to be a need for it, and is a frivolous extra expense. We will be getting ready at the venue which negates the need for the entrance in the limo. My FH's passion is cars so I feel a little bad, but we can always rent a really cool vehicle or sportscar to get to the venue and home the next day possibly? Then again, I'm not sure I want to worry about returning it the next day either. Definitely setting up shuttles through the local hotels though. Must say, it is the only relieving aspect of wedding planning ... limos aren't necessary anymore (unless there is a church wedding then to a venue), which has sort of gone by the wayside it seems.

I'd say if you have to get your entire bridal party from the ceremony to the reception space, it might be a good idea just for crowd control. Lots of my couples go without them too.

No limo - we got a party bus for the bridal party so we can go take pics but everyone else is driving themselves. Were also getting ready at the church and prob gonna cab it home! Limos are overrated....you could decorate your cars as "just married" or " getting married " and it would be super cute!
