Is it okay not to have a limo?

FH thinks it would be an awful lot of money just to look nice getting in and out of a car. We were discussing maybe having just our own cars and driving ourselves. Is this completely crazy? It would save us a lot of money to put towards more memorable things in the wedding, and we don't really need...

It would save us a lot of money to put towards more memorable things in the wedding, and we don't really need to have a fancy car in our pictures either. Thoughts? We in our early 20's so I think people would understand us not wanting to spend all that much, but I don't want to look too childish either. Also, I would definitely have some sort of shuttle for the end of the night and guests who drink.

Our wedding was local. we just cleaned our own car and made it look like new. if you don't like your car maybe you can borrow a friend's car that is nicer? but if your wedding is local it is a LOT of money for a limo. for us it would be a total of 15 min drive... not worth it for us.

Well I could use some advice as well, including FH an I we have 10ppl to get to the park (ceremony) then back to the hotel (reception). Literally Less than 10 minutes pending traffic that weekend. So we all should get go separately??? Thank you Coffee&tea335. Great question

Um, yes? You're over thinking it. Skip the limo.

I agree with Karen. Limos are not necessary, but you should have a backup plan if you plan on drinking. Same for your wedding party. We probably won't do any kind of limo, but I don't really drink so it won't be a problem. Just remember when making decisions for your wedding... The only important expectations are your own. If it's not important to you, then save your money for something that is.

I don't really want a limo, I would prefer a trolley, but may end up with a bus. Trolley looks like old fashion street car, but $700 for 3 hrs is too much. I want it to go take pictures in downtown St. Louis by arch and Busch Stadium after ceremony and to take us to reception. Problem is they can park on street downtown, Regular cars can't. I don't drink at all, he drinks 1-2 beers and he is done. We will work this out though.

Antoinette, if anybody in bridal party has a van, SUV like a tahoe or even a minivan that would help you a lot. Sweet talk a few people with bigger vehicles.

FH wanted one until I showed him how much they cost! His sister has a nice camero that we are going to use and we will probably have one of his uncles drive us to our hotel.

We are not having one! It's one thing I never cared about so I was fine not doing it!

No limo here. We don't need one since everything is in one place and to us they are a waste of money. You don't really see them in pictures of the wedding.

No limo here. The ceremony and reception will all be in once place and we will all be getting ready there. The venue is about 35-40 minutes away from my house, but I still don't want one.

We are entertaining the idea of getting a limo for an after party in Manhattan. We were quoted $790 for a BMW, Audi or Benz including tolls. It's a lot cheaper since it's technically not a "wedding". If you want limo pictures, this might be a good option.

My FH and I decided no limo, but we are looking into renting a luxury car from enterprise maybe which would be much cheaper than than a limo. These car companies are insane with their pricing. I just can't justify spending $500 for a limo when lets be realistic you are riding in it for not that long to go to and from the venue... they make their money by having minimums and the driver sitting in the car waiting for the wedding to end pretty much. my dad works for a limo company and if then he couldn't get be a better deal.

My FH was in a lot of weddings in the past few years. Only one of them had a big party bus to take the massive BP to the reception from the church, but then the bus did not return to take anyone home. It was such a waste.

So, when it came time for the bride and groom to depart, one of the groomsmen offered them his Hummer to use as their "getaway" car. If that had not happened, they were going to drive in their own car back to their house for the night. Since then, of the weddings FH has been in, someone with a "fancy" car has offered it to the couple for free. FFIL is letting us use his vintage car for free instead of us renting something.

Totally fine. We drove ourselves home (DH was disappointed his GM didn't decorate the car with 'just married', but, whatever!).

I think it's perfectly fine not to have a limo. I would just mention it to the bridesmaids and groomsmen so they know they need to make driving plans.

Depends. If the venue is at the church of my dreams, we are most likely having a party bus actually, we have too big of a BP to fit in a limo I believe and that way we can do some dancing Smiley winking otherwise our other option is the ceremony at the same place as the reception. In that case, we would have to decide if we are going out afterwards since we have to be done at midnight, we would take a party bus for who wants to go out to the bars afterwards.

The limo was awesome so all us girls could ride together and then the groom jumped in on the way to the reception.

just don't get a mini van. our friend got a mini van taxi cuz she didn't wanna shell out for a limo and she said she was embarrassed getting out of a mini van at the fancy ass hotel in her wedding dress

We rode around in our own minivan. I'm pretty sure the wedding was still legal. ;-)
