Is it too early?

It is way too early. Like, almost 2 years too early. Wait until less than a year out - a lot can change in that amount of time. You may have other people you're closer with by then and/or may not be as close with the people who you are thinking of now.

Don’t ask anyone before 6 months before the wedding. Relationships change over time and new friends are made every day. If you ask the wrong person then it’s a friendship ending move to ask them to step down because you asked too early. There is nothing that any bridesmaid needs to do before the wedding besides get a dress and show up to the rehearsal and wedding day. Everything that social media says is required, many real life couples and bridesmaids don’t do ever and you are still married without breaking etiquette. If you do a search of the forum (the upper right of the page), there are pages and pages of posts describing why asking bridesmaids before 6 months is a bad idea and ends friendships.
