Is it worth it?

So I think I have a handle on most everything in concept form at least but I have to know. Is paying for a videographer worth it????? Or should I just stick with the photography?

I love watching old videos and seeing family members how the used to be especially for those who have passed on. I care more about the video capturing the people in attendance and us being happy with our friends and family than the ceremony itself. I’ll help preserve my memories

Personally, I knew from the beginning I wanted a videographer since I love watching old home movies and wedding videos. We got a combo photographer/ videographer, so that saved a bit of money vs hiring two separate vendors. You could also have a videographer for just the ceremony to reduce the cost, then have whoever has a high-quality phone take videos of the speeches, first dance, etc.

We opted not to have a videographer, the irony being that my husband IS a videographer! LOL. We considered it, but the more we thought about it, we realized we'd look at pictures a lot more often than we'd watch an entire video of our wedding. However, several friends of ours took short videos with their phones that they later shared with us.

I wasn’t going to do a videographer originally. But my friend was telling me that was her biggest regret from her wedding, that she didn’t have a video to watch. From things I’ve read it’s one of the biggest regrets married couples have afterward. (Not hiring one that is). But that being said, they are pricey, so you need to do what’s best for you financially. I skimped on a lot of other things to have money for the things I really wanted.
