Is my wedding dress *too* blush?? Is there a way to make it look lighter/whiter?

Linds, on January 7, 2020 at 3:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
Hi all!

I just received my wedding dress and love everything about it, except the color! I ordered from a well-known Etsy wedding dress designer who took my ask of making the “white lace pop against the underlay” to heart! It’s beautiful, but I would really love if it were slightly less blush/champagne colored and closer to ivory. Is there any way of doing this?
I know it’s not traditional, but does it still look bridal? Thanks in advance!

Your dress looks very bridal. The only way to make the lace pop is to have a darker color underneath. Blush dresses are very common to the point of becoming traditional now. It's a very beautiful dress and there won't be any question that you're the bride.

It's stunning in my opinion. However, if you didn't specifically ask for a blush dress then I think it's worth talking to the designer. Did you ask for blush? Did she connect with you about the specific underlay colors you are OK with before she made it?

My dress is blush (if I took a picture of it it's just a couple shades lighter than yours) and in photos it looks white, if that's your main concern!

Your dress also DEFINITELY screams bride!

I think your dress is very pretty and you will definitely look like a bride. Did you tell the designer you wanted ivory, champagne, or blush because they are all very different colors? If you told the designer blush then that's what you got. There really isn't a way to change the color like you are asking.

I think it looks very bridal! If you wanted, you could do a whiter veil & white shoes, just so you feel more "white" and bridal!

Omg! Your dress is beautiful!! It is very bridal, despite it not being all white or ivory. As someone else said - having a blush, champagne or nude underlay is so common these days, that it’s seen just as bridal as white/ivory.

Go with some white jewelry like pearls and a white veil. Perhaps even white flowers if you can so it contrasts against the blush.

Your dress is beautiful by the way!

I think it’s gorgeous. Very bridal looking. Who is the Etsy seller?

My dress was a similar color to yours and I was worried at first that it would look too dark. But in photos it looks just slightly darker than ivory. I’d recommend look at the dress outside or in natural light - it will look much lighter. It is a gorgeous dress and still looks very bridal, and the great thing about blush is that it really does accent all that beautiful lace detailing.

Your dress is beautiful! it's definitely bridal, but the blush helps set it apart from other dresses of a similar style.

Thank you everyone!! This made me feel way better about the shade of the dress😅 I’ll post pictures when I try it on in a few weeks!! I was told the underlay would be nude based on what I wanted, just didn’t realize what that meant until it came haha. Your feedback is so helpful and appreciated!!
