My FH and I are leaning towards not going on a honeymoon, as we have just purchased our first house and will be moving in 18 days before the wedding. We want to spend the money we would spend on a honeymoon on the house, and spend some of the days just getting our new place ready!

Some people are saying it's a bad omen not to go on a honeymoon, however we were planning on waiting until our one year anniversary and doing a " honeymoon" then. In fact one person told me in no certain words " Why would you start your marriage off without a honeymoon?"

We were also toying with the idea of just driving somewhere a few hours away for 2-3 days and doing a short honeymoon. We would most likely still be taking the week after our wedding off of work and spending it together, just not far away or in an expensive matter. Thoughts?

We in fact did our "mini-moon" at home. Turned off the phones, went out for fancy dinners, went to a local pool/waterpark and had a bunch of lovin'. It was great. We only had 3 days since DH had to go back to work. Went on the big honeymoon 6 months later to Mexico.
