Is Our RSVP Card Confusing??

C.C., on June 9, 2017 at 12:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 37

We sent out invitations on Monday and just received our first few RSVP's back! I'm so excited, it's starting to feel so real. Unfortunately, none of the first 4 we received filled out the response card properly and we had to call each of them to ask what entrees they wanted. Instead of initialing each entree, they just put the number of entrees in each category. Now I'm starting to get nervous that our RSVP card is too confusing. It's too little too late now even if it is, but does this card confuse you?? How would you fill this out?

This question must be sarcastic, right? I'm sure you know there is nothing confusing about your rsvp.

    People don't read.

That is 100% clear - but, unfortunately, most people don't know how to follow directions. We've having similar issues with our RSVP cards ._. These people...

It should be clear, we did the same wording (initials by food choice) and we haven't had any problems. The only people who put #s by the food choice was the two people picking the same choice.

Your RSVP is more than clear. This is so sad. I just can't wrap my brain around how guests get this so wrong so often. This is not a new concept...

Ours is worded literally the exact same as yours. If people just put numbers, I will not be calling to ask who wants what. I'm just gonna guess and they can switch if it was wrong. That's their fault.

People just don't follow directions. We asked for initials as well and out of 100 invitations less than 1/2 came back filled out properly. We just guessed who wanted what. They can switch during dinner if it's wrong.

It's not confusing at all. We had the same instructions to initial each guest's entrée choice on our RSVP cards. There was a small handful of guests who put check marks or numbers next to the entrées I stead of their initials. No big deal for the couples who ordered the same entrée. For the few who had marked different entrées but didn't provide initials, we just reached out and asked who wanted which meal.

I have been freaking astonished at how much trouble people have had filling out our RSVP cards. I've basically lost all faith in people's ability to understand and follow the simplest of instructions.

So far we haven't had anybody fail to put their name, but probably fewer than 1 in 5 has actually checked the appropriate box for accepts or declines and also filled in the number attending. People have mostly done one or the other, but 2 out of the 19 we have gotten back so far have put their names and nothing else at all. We had to reach out and ask if they were coming or not.

How is this so difficult for people? I cannot think of any possible way we could have made ours more clear and simple.

We had the same type of reply cards (initial your entree selection). People don't read. I just assigned a meal to each person and made sure everybody on one card was seated at the same table. Typically, servers will confirm with guests their order prior to bringing it out.

I think it is very clear, but PP are right, people don't seem to read these days. Luckily my guests will be ordering table-side, so I just put an extra line about # of children attending, so I can plan for the kids menu and cost.

I am REALLY thinking about writing in the names on the RSVP, just so I dont have to deal with people forgetting. Hopefully that isnt too rude!

Looks clear to me too. People don't pay attention or follow directions, on the bright side at least they are responding lol

This makes me feel so much better, haha! I wasn't being sarcastic, just genuinely concerned since I thought it was clear, but I guess the first few guests to RSVP didn't. Thank you everyone for the feedback, I feel much better! If we get any more in today I'll let you know if they were able to follow directions haha.
