Is pizza acceptable?

Taylor, on March 12, 2020 at 9:38 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 20
My fiancé and I are having a elegant/bohemian wedding. Our venue is a renovated dairy barn with a lot of outdoor space. We plan to have a “backyard party” vibe for the reception and we both love pizza. I suggested having pizza but my family seems to hate the idea whereas all of my fiancé’s family and our friends love the idea. It’s also more in our budget range. And I feel that people would enjoy it more. What do you all think?

If I were a guest, I definitely would not be mad about having pizza. Since you’re looking to have a more casual backyard party I think it would be just fine! Others may criticize the idea but in the end it’s your wedding and if you want pizza, go for it. 😊

I say go for it if the pizza will be really good. If it’s some commercial pizza like Dominos or Pizza Hut (or whatever you have in your area) I would say no. But if there’s a good family owned business then why not. Also, not sure if you thought of this already, but maybe add salad as well to make it a complete meal.

If Someone doesn’t like pizza then I don’t think I could be friends with them

Pizza is the best. I wouldn’t be mad about pizza at a wedding.

    I think it's a great idea!

And maybe do some fun, different kinds too! That will make it a little more interesting.

We also love pizza (our rehearsal will be at a local pizza parlor) and considered hiring a food truck that actually came and made brick oven pizzas. I agree with PP I wouldn’t do a chain pizza place.

We got married on national pizza day. I was bummed to find this out after plans were made, but if I would've known sooner we would've definitely had pizza as an option!!! You could have the pizza cut into bite sized squares for apps or even late night snack towards the end of the night. My cousin had chicken and waffles at hers. I think there is a way to make it a little more "wedding" without just bringing in Dominos. But honestly at the end of the day, it's you and your husbands special night, so do what will make you happy!!!

If it was catered and kept warm (not just a fast-food delivery), and at a casual wedding, I’d be fine with it. I just don’t want cold pizza. Yuck.

    Pizza is always good.

That said, it's about YOUR choices, not others'. You did say you wanted *elegant* bohemian, so if you can get super NICE pizza catered, look into that.

My biggest concern with pizza would be guests with dietary restrictions.

I saw a really cute set up for pizza at a wedding on Pinterest! They had different kinds and they were on platters, I liked it! We considered it, too.

We are having pizza and everyone I have told is super excited! Which is a relief because it was definitely the most cost effective choice out of all of the options our venue offers.

I think "elegant" and "pizza" don't really go together. But if the wedding has a more casual vibe, I think pizza is fine. As a guest, I'd feel weird eating pizza in a long dress & heels & all dressed up? I've seen pizza done nicer at weddings, the caterer had a portable pizza oven so they were super fresh and were under small heat lamps and they had 10-15 kinds in smaller slices but they had other food too.

We are kinda doing the same thing except that our venue is up in the red mountains at a cabin. We are doing pizza! Brick oven pizza to be exact. It's a little more rustic than pizza hut. The place we are getting it from is special to us and it perfect for our budget. I say do it because everyone loves pizza and if not, offer a salad too.

I've never been to a wedding where pizza is the main dish - but Its always been a hit as a sobering meal. It comes to what you and your fiance want because at the end of your day - it's exactly that!

Go for it. Be aware not everyone likes fancy gourmet pizza. Once a pizza is set on display, no one knows or cares where it came from if you want Papa Johns or a local pizza place you love.
