I wanted to share this article with you all: https://offbeatbride.com/no-budget-for-wedding-photography/
The author reveals how her entire budget of $1,500 was less than the average cost for a professional photographer in her local area. As quoted, "I thought about how weddings have been taking place for probably tens of thousands of years, and how photography has only been around for a couple of centuries. Even a couple of generations ago, it was not uncommon to have only a dozen pictures of a wedding, or maybe only one."
She goes on to say that she doesn't regret skipping out on professional wedding photography.
What are your thoughts on this?

Aww how sweet. Your wedding was absolutely stunning. Wish there were more budget friendly (5k or less) weddings shown on here or maybe I'm just not coming accross them.

The photographer/videographer is the first person we booked. We want to remember this day forever without the stress of having family and friends try to capture it for us. To me the memories will be worth spending the money we were charged, but I completely support finding a reasonably priced option within whatever your personal budget is. Also, my fiancée's mother is a photographer so we wanted to make sure she can enjoy just being present as the mother of the bride.

I would LOVE to see lower budget weddings. Just for the venues we are looking at they average between 2 and 6,000 and it's unsettling for people on a budget!

Oh my! Okay I found some pics of my friends who eloped with 2 witnesses just last month. They called around asking pretty places such as museums, coffeeshops, conservatories (music or plants) if they could use their space for only 15 minues to exchange vows. Everyone wanted to charge them $500 or more to do so. Then an art museum called them back saying it was their pleasure for them to do it for free!!!

Thank you!! I saw a few when I first got on here. I was hoping to be of more help to coronavirus brides because of my experience with the smaller wedding. But everyone just seems to be postponing instead.

I personally don't see the point in spending a ton of money on photography. One of our friends is a professional photographer and he's only charging us $500 plus the cost of their hotel room so less than $1,000 for the wedding and engagement photos. You can still have quality and not pay several grand for good memories.
