Is the Macarena still played at receptions?

FutureMrsD, on September 13, 2016 at 2:50 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 26

Curious to see if anyone's heard it lately or is specifically asking for it. I grew up with it and I think it'd be fun for the kids, and well, I'd love it too haha

Idk, but I would be the first on the dance floor if that came on. Hell yeah.

If you wanted an updated version of it, a girl at work showed me "Mas Macarena." I think it'd be fun!

Omg! I just saw the real lyrics behind it on FB! It's soooo crazy! But the beat is always a hit!

The last time I heard the Macarena at a wedding, it was the 90s. The bride and groom gave disposable cameras to the guests.

The macarena needs to make a wedding comeback since the ones who grew up on it are getting married now! Don't think I don't still know all of the moves... arm arm, flip flip, shoulder shoulder, head head, hip hip, hip hop, shake shake, hey Macarena! Thank you for this post! I'm digging it

It's on the do not play list of our DJ, we didn't even have to write it... they also have chicken dance and something else on their sheet when they gave it to us to fill out haha.

If you want to get people up and dancing, you've got to play the tacky classics. They're dance crazes for a reason!

I heard it at a wedding I was at this summer! Definitely one of those situations where you either love it and want it played or hate it and add it to the do not play.

Every wedding I've been to has the macarena. The last wedding I went to was literally line dance after line dance because that's the only way people would dance due to the bar being in a completely separate room. I'm indifferent about if we play it or not. But I only want a max of 2-3 line dances the entire evening at my wedding.

Our DJ said that he starts off with the oldies in the beginning of the night, and gets to the newer things in the evening. There are several songs we don't want, including the Chicken Dance (FH), and the Macarena (too many middle school dance memories).

If it makes you happy, have it played. There are some who love it, some who don't, and it's a pretty inoffensive thing to play (unlike Ice-T's "Cop Killer").

Lol, it was #1 on our "do not play under any circumstances" list.
