Is there a pleasing to the eye way to make a rectangular tablecloth fit a round table

Amanda, on April 21, 2017 at 2:40 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 9

Hi,

We've found some tablecloths that are local and in our budget but they are 90" By 158" and we'll be having round 60" tables. The owner of them says that they are for round tables but clearly that can't be true. They also said that they have used them for round tables and said they didn't have to pin them but I don't see how they would work with round tables. Has anyone made these work and if so how? If you have any tips on how we can make them work we would greatly appreciate it so much. We like them but want them to work before buying them and we don't have a table to bring with us to try them.Smiley sad

Depending on the fabric, couldn't you cut into rounds?

Here's a video on to cut the perfect circle from a rectangle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ycso6RYJyMs

The video is cutting a laminated wall map, but the method would be the same.

    Good Luck

For a 60" round table - if you want mid length linens you can use 90" or 108" round linens, and if you want them to be floor length you'll need a 120" round linen. You could cut all of the linens down to 90" rounds, but keep in mind that they will not be floor length!

    Here's an example picture of mid-length / half-drop vs. floor-length / full-drop:

If you fold it in half, it will be 90 x 79 -- which will give you a smaller rectangle. On a 60" table, you'd have a 15" drop on 2 opposite sides and a 9" drop on the other 2 sides.

If you fold it not quite at the half-way point, you could make it a 90 x 90 square that could work better on a 60" round.

    Best bet -- keep shopping.

Did you ask the sellers how they used the cloths? I would ask them to meet you at your venue and show you how they placed the cloths on one of your tables.

No matter what you do, you are only going to have 90" on two sides which means only a 15" drop on those sides. You will be left with an extra 38" on one end to tuck under so it's not visible, but it won't look as nice as you probably want for your wedding.

How many cloths do you need? What price is your local seller asking?

There are so many wedding linen websites where you can get 120" round cloths for about $6 each. Another option would be to buy used on Tradesy, Ebay or searchtempest.com
