Is there a such thing as too many items?

Deborah, on October 10, 2019 at 11:36 AM Posted in Registry 0 4
My fiancé and I are registering. I'm starting to wonder whether we're looking like we're getting greedy by putting too many items on. We have the "appropriate amount" for the amount of guests, according to Zola, but we are registering for two sets of many items, as we are keeping a kosher home, where you cannot mix meet and dairy. That means that we need two sets of plates, utensils, some appliances (spatulas, pots and pans, knives), serving plates. Am I overthinking this? Will people just buy what they will and we're giving a good variety? Thanks for the input!

I'd say you're overthinking lol. Most people probably won't even notice, bride brain makes you overanalyze almost everything!

A registry is just a list of items you want to give guests ideas if items they can gift you that will actually be useful to you— NOT an obligation or call to buy. More over, many places have completion discounts for newlyweds to buy the unpurchased items. We used registering as creating a shopping list for *ourselves* — these were the things we wanted and needed and we were prepared to buy them all on our own after the wedding anyway. I wouldn’t sweat this.

You should register for lots of items at different price points. That gives everyone something they can afford.

Personally, you’re giving people options. Everyone won’t buy everything. Most people will just offer gift cards and money. People need options and variety because of their personal budgets and values. Someone might think it makes sense to buy a $50 pots and pan set while someone else may think you already have one and will opt in for something else. So, no, you’re fine!
