Is there a way to have 2 groomsmen speak at the wedding?

Oct62018bride, on February 19, 2018 at 9:12 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13
My fiances brother is not the best man at the wedding but he still needs a special job since he's his only brother. So. What if the best man gave a regular speech and the brother did a toast? I know usually it's one thing but I'm not sure what else he could do. He could do the toast before dinner and the best man could give a speech after.
(We were thinking about making him the officiant but we just don't think we can do it )
Has this been done?

I think you can do it however you want, both can give a speech or one speech and one toast like you said. Your day, do it how you want!

    Hire a professional officiant.

Are you even sure he wants to do something? Your idea for the BM to do a speech and brother to do toast sounds good. Or they could both also do a speech. Don't over think it.

Does the maid of honor give a speech as well? I'm worried it will get too... Speechy. Lol

I agree, that sounds like a lot of speeches. Could BIL do a reading during the ceremony? And then just BM and MOH do the speeches?

Whoever wants to give a speech does. There are no rules. Your MOH may not feel comfortable speaking in from of an audience. Thats perfectly okk too. I would just tell them to keep them under 5 minutes for those who are doing them and limit it to 3.

Well do the speeches typically happen before or after dinner? Cuz if he does a toast before dinner then the BM & MOH do after dinner it might break it up a bit

I've been having this problem because I have a maid of honor and a man of honor, FH has a best man, and I know our dad's both want to say something. So I was going to have some people do a speech at the rehearsal dinner instead.

    Absolutely hire a professional officiant.

And honestly, he doesn't need a special job, even if he's your FH only sibling. Neither my brother nor my husband's brother were in the wedding party or had special jobs like ushering or giving a speech/toast. No one cared or felt left out or anything.

Anyone can speak , but for your guests’ sake, try to make sure speech lengths are limited so they’re not sitting through too much talking

If they both give speeches, please keep them to a time limit. My best friends wedding two of the groomsmen (no BM) gave speeches and it was the longest 5 minutes of my life.
