Is there anyone else planning their wedding in less than a year?!?!

Mrs. Juliana, on February 22, 2019 at 3:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 56
Hi!

I got engaged on 1/27/19 (my birthday) and I’m getting married 8/17/19. I see that most people plan for 12-24 months. When I tell people I’m planning in 6 months they say I’m CRAZY!

Any tips on how to make this planning in such a short time as smooth as possible?

Thanks !

I mean technically...lol our engagement is 2 weeks shy of a whole year.

Planning can be done in 6 months but just realize that you probably won't have first picks of venues that you might want as some can be booked up to 2 years in advance. But I would definitely get your guest list and budget figured out now then immediately start looking for the venue.

Our engagement will be right at 9 months long which is actually pretty long in my circle haha. My cousin planned hers in 4 months and my grandmother just planned hers in like 3 months. You just have to get started ASAP and know that you might not get first pick of every vendor.

I got engaged on New Years Day and we are getting married on September 7th. Get all of the big stuff done first and the most important to you next. That way if you don't have time to get to the little things its no big deal. Breath and try to also enjoy the planning process. It will all fall together and be great. Good Luck and Congratulations!

I only visited one venue and fell in LOVE. I wanted an October wedding but they were booked every Saturday from June to November with the exception
of one Saturday in August, which is now my wedding date of 8/17.

Since the date was close and he probably wouldn’t get the date booked. He gave is a Sunday rate plus a few extras, like waving the ceremony fee and adding a desert bar etc.

It is not so easy to bargain with the vendors. Especially the florist. my biggest challenge I’m having now is sticking strictly to the budget.

I got engaged December of 2017 and got married in July 2018...it’s definitely doable but you will need to be a little flexible. We had a Friday wedding so we didn’t have an issue with vendors and venues being booked

We planned ours in 4 months. Our venue was a private home, so we did not have to worry about that one.

I would book what is important to you ASAP. Venue, photographer, caterer, florist, cake, rentals (if there is something other than the basics that you want). I wasn't able to get my first choice in florist or cake person, but we were really happy with what we ended up with.

I wasn't looking for a traditional wedding dress, so that made it easier. However, there are places you can get traditional dresses fairly quickly, like BHLDN

Good luck to you! I am sure that everything will be great!

We planned ours in 7 months. The things that helped us:

    1) I’m a teacher and had summer “off” to do so, basically it was about 3 weeks I had to cram everything
    2) we got married in the off season
    3) we had a large hudget
    4) but the biggest thing was just being very decisive, having a clear vision, and using clear lists and organization.

Organization is key. I’m old school and have to write everything out. As great as the apps are, it’s easier for me to stay on top of things when I see it on paper and physically cross it off.

    ME!

I have coworkers that told me this was possible! There are many timelines that help give you an idea with the timeline you have, according to your wedding date. (I recommend getting that binder from "The Knot" with wedding planning). You can do it!

    Congratualtions!!!

I think we have around 9 months for ours. Definitely possible. Advise: when you choose, choose wisely and stick to it. Go ahead and search for your dress and order it ASAP. Book the venue if you’re using one and figure out what colors you will be using.

We will be planning from November to September, so a few months shy of a year. We got engaged last February though, and had other life things that needed to be taken care of before we started.

No advice, but it is doable. Here in Utah engagements typically only last 2-3 months... Crazy.

Have you thought about doing your own flowers? It’s not for everyone but it could honestly save you thousands of dollars depending on what your preferences are!

    Get your budget
    then guest list
then figure out your viable must haves with venues and go from there.

Wedding date twins! We got engaged in September of 2018 but didn’t pick our date/venue until late October and our wedding date is 8/17! It is definitely doable but takes a lot of research for vendors!

We were engaged for right at 2 years before we started planning. I wanted to do a year, he said why wait! ( I guess cuz it had been 2 years) so October 27 it is! So far hasn’t been awful but it’s a Sunday so Venue was easier. Some of my guests may not be able to be there which is a bummer, but is will work itself out! You’re definitely in good company!

I will be engaged 9 months when I get married. It's easy if you write everything down and stick to it!

We started preparing 7 months before, surprised to know how ordering wedding dress takes time but found one brand ships quicker than others. Still searching some vendors.

Yes!! I’ve tried to keep up with apps but ended up buying a wedding planner and a binder just to write ideas, quotes, etc. down and it has made me feel so much better. I also have a note pad with all people invited to the wedding they are also all numbered along with their RSPV cards. I’m glad other people like writing things and seeing them on paper.
