Is there anyone else planning their wedding in less than a year?!?!

Hi! I got engaged on 1/27/19 (my birthday) and I’m getting married 8/17/19. I see that most people plan for 12-24 months. When I tell people I’m planning in 6 months they say I’m CRAZY! Any tips on how to make this planning in such a short time as smooth as possible? Thanks !

We were engaged October 20th and are getting married September 20th. However I am just now really getting down to serious planning. You can do it especially if you are any more organized than I am Smiley tongue

We got engaged the same day as you and our wedding is the weekend before yours! Smiley heart

We're trying to just take it easy and not stress but our first choice of reception venues was already booked and our DJ of choice. We just acknowledged that everything might not be exactly as we wanted with the shorter timeline but it will still be a great day and we'll work with what we have. We have our church, the reception venue who does their own catering, the DJ and florist so far and also my dress and accessories are purchased. Oh, and we also have our photographer (a hobbyist who has shot a few weddings before and does more amazing work than she realizes) and ordered our invites. Now just working on the smaller things. Good luck!

Got engaged in early December and getting married August 10th - definitely a quick and exciting year but we got right to work with finding vendors after enjoying our two week engagement-moon (not sure if that’s a thing but it was AWESOME to get engaged and have some time alone) before we came back and told folks/got to planning! So far it’s been really great, even planning a wedding while living in a different state and we’re grateful for my family that have been doing a lot of the in-person appointments while My partner and I FaceTime in, totally different way to plan a wedding but so far, it’s been the perfect amount of time for us in a nine-month engagement, we haven’t felt too behind or rushed!

It really depends on what you want for your wedding (ie. big, small, weekend, weekday, indoor, outdoor, etc.). It is definitely possible, but again depends on many factors. Ours is 10 months out from engagement, so really 9 months of planning, and we've gotten most everything together with the exception of some of the smaller aspects (ie. exact decorations, signage, etc.). Happy to offer suggestions and share experience if you have specific questions.

You should have a coordinator - not necessarily a planner. A coordinator can do the following:

    1. help negotiate pricing with your venue

    2. Give you design/decor tips and resources to get them reasonably priced

    3. Recommend photographer-videographer

    4. Be there "the day of" so that you day will flow smoothly. They can deal with all deliveries, help with set up and be sure your venue is on point with food and everything else that you paid for.Smiley heart

You're not alone. I got engaged in June of 2018. I didn't decide on actual date until late summer/early fall. I pretty much just started doing wedding planning this year.

I planned my wedding in 6 months. It’s very doable! Just have to stay organized and motivated to get everything done. We set a calendar of when everything needed to get completed by that way I ensured to stay on track. My mom has been a major help! She and I have tagged teamed on most everything for the wedding as my FH is living long distance from me.

Yes! started planning last week and the wedding date is mid july! you’ll feel rushed to book things but you need to take your time and make sure it’s what you want, but in a timely manner. don’t get discouraged if you don’t get your first choice, sometimes the second is better.

I don’t think it’s crazy. I started using planning 10 months out from wedding date.

We got engaged February 2nd, 2019 and wedding date is August 31, 2019. So I feel your pain. I also imagined I’d be a fall bride but, FH wanted a June wedding and our venue only had one Saturday in August so we went with it. I feel rushed but, my planing isgoing well so far. FH is laid back and thinks it’s crazy to plan this “early” ha ha. Go figure! I think we can get everything done in 6 months though. I try to accomplish something everyday.
