Is there such thing as a free ordain?

Brooke, on January 1, 2023 at 7:20 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 10
I have family members who are wedding officiants but I don’t want them to be my wedding officiant. Is it a thing to hire a wedding officiant for free? Or am I being cheap?

I think you will likely have a very difficult time finding someone who isn't a friend or family member that will officiate for free. I would instead plan to either put the cost of an officiant in your budget, or ask an ordained friend or family member to officiate.

If you are asking someone to perform a service they should be paid for said service.

I don't think this exists. Officiants are hired vendors providing a service and should be paid as such.

Yes, you are being cheap. When you "hire" someone, a fee is expected.

You could see if a friend would get ordained, but you should stay pay them a little.

Yeah, you’ll have to pay unless you ask a very close friend/family member.

Nothing is free. You always need to pay vendors for their time. Also make sure that this is legal in your state since many do not recognize online ordinations.

They are traveling for free to your wedding or are they local.

Sounds a little fishy, hope it's legit. 🤞🏼

We’re paying $200 for our officiant and that is really cheap where we are.
