The ushers typically help people find their seats, hand out ceremony programs, greet guests as they arrive, roll out aisle runner (if there is one), etc. I suppose they could walk down the aisle too if you wanted them to! I don't think I've ever seen that done, though doesn't mean it can't be done. Here is an article on ushers: https://www.brides.com/story/wedding-usher-duties-and-responsibilities

What? A bridal party can be as big or as small as you want it.

A bridal party is however big or small you want it to be!

The article Lisa linked is a great one! Also, for our wedding, we're having the ushers greet people as they arrive to the ceremony and kindly remind them that it is an unplugged ceremony and to turn off all electronic devices. With the exception of reserved seating for family, guests can sit on whichever side they choose so our ushers won't have to guide them to their seats. We're also not having programs made in order to save money and paper so that is another duty they won't have to do!

We're also having them walk the grandmothers and MOG down the aisle. (my mother is walking me)

As PP said, a bridal party can be as big or small as you would like. One thing though is that I see you have your 13 year old daughter listed as matron of honor. The matron of honor, by definition, is a married woman. Maid of honor and matron of honor are the same role, just maid is used for an unmarried woman and matron for married. I would maybe call your 13 year old daughter a junior maid of honor or just call both of them maid of honor.

I think its perfectly fine! l Although a matron of honor is someone who is married so I would name your daughter another maid of honor.

Is your 13 year old daughter married? Matron of honors are women who are married. I'm guessing (and hoping) she is not married! Therefore she would also be a MOH or just a bridesmaid.

You can have as many wedding party members as you want. Ushers typically usher people to their seats and/or pass out programs. They are not used much anymore.

That line-up sounds perfect, to me! Great way to involve the most important people in your life Smiley smile

Especially with the edit about "matron of honor" Smiley winking

We had a very small bridal party and they also filled the role of ushers for us (just seating people, and then releasing the rows as they walked out). It worked out well because our MOH and best man were our witnesses for the license, so by having them release the rows we kept them near the officiant to due the signing right after the ceremony.
