I left my phone number for her to call back but they never did. I regret giving them my number. Is this a scam?

Oh, calm down. It is not a scam. They buy your information from David's Bridal and pick people randomly. My fiance and I went because we decided sitting through a 90 minute presentation was worth saving money on his wedding band. At the end of the day, we didn't have to buy a thing, we got our voucher for our bands, and that was it. Chef Jim was incredibly funny and not pushy AT ALL. I'm just your average bride from Virginia who says if you have the time, go, you have nothing to lose, I promise. Just stick to your guns and make sure you don't cave in if you're hell bent on not buying anything.

    Hi all,

I got the same phone call on Thursday telling me I am the lucky winner all I have to do was go to the presentation. We went. I don't think it is a scam (that's a harsh word), but like everything else there is a catch. One rude guy was there saying how he just wants to get his trip and get out. The guy doing the show gave him the trip and said that he was easy to get a long with take it and go, but if he wanted him to explain it then he would have to stay that was the deal. The trip is 3 days/2 nights to one of twenty different locations. It is the cost of the hotel only. You have to pay for your transportation, food, etc. Let's face it though, if your going to go on a trip you are going to need a hotel. It might not be all paid or as good as it sounded, but that is less you are going to have to fork out. You do have to put a 100 dollar deposit down when you book your hotel. This is a deposit that says you are going to go on the trip. If you show up you get it back.

Also if you want to extend your stay you get discounted hotel rates. The rings are from JVL. It is a gift card that you type in the code after you pick out your rings and it makes the balance $0.00. Then again the catch, you have to pay $50.00 for insured shipping. I work in a place that all we do is sell and ship. The cost of shipping rings with insurance should only be about thirty, but I could live with two wedding bands for $50.00. Next the coupons, he gives you something that looks like a postcard/flyer. You fill it out send in $4.95 (S&H) to the company and they will send you back an activation code. The code is for a website. Once you register your code, it is good for one year from that date. They have it set up like this so that if anyone gets deployed, they can use it when it for the full year when they return. The code activates the website and you can pick the category and search for the coupons you want.

As you select/print the coupons it will deduct that amount from the $1000 allowance. The cost of this membership is $99.00 a year. If you initially register using the culinary bride registration then each additional year you register will only be thirty dollars. The last "prize" is 20-40% off of their cookware for life. This is only if you purchase something through them at the demonstration. I do not work for culinary bride in any way shape or form. I got the phone call was curious if I was going to get scammed and looked up on numerous wedding sites but there was little if any information. Their cookware was amazing in my opinion, but very expensive and I can't afford that right now with planning a wedding and having a two year old. We took the rings gift card and the coupon card and left at the end of the presentation without buying a thing. I did not use the gift card for the rings or coupons yet, but I am going to. When I do I will post if I find any hidden catches.

Sorry about all the posts but I just wanted to let anyone else who is curious know the details and make a decision based on someone who went vs. being just skeptical. There is a cruise trip available and a resort trip to mexico/bahamas, I am not sure where he said. If you buy something you will receive a 4 day/3 night trip. I am not sure on all the details, but I know the resort you would have to pay an additional $480 ($60 per person per day) to have the all inclusive package. This would cover all food and drinks at the hotel. Which if anyone has been on trips like these before it could cost you $60.00 a person for dinner because just burgers and fries could be 25$. At any rate that is what I remembered about those trips ( I did not buy anything, so I did not get one) . The inclusive packages are optional. Also I forgot to mention Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter weeks you can't book your trip and you also have to give a 60day notice.

I just received the same call from 845-395-0262. At first I thought I really won something because I had recently been to Cavanaugh's Bride Show in Pittsburgh. I went to the bride shows website to see if they were a vendor but came up with nothing. The woman said we had the same three options and that we would need to attend the meeting at one of the hotels in Pittsburgh. I asked the woman to send me information through the mail or email but she refused. Everyone else I who has contacted me since the bride show emailed or sent me packets with the information. She told me to call back tomorrow so that the woman who emails can do so then. I feel like it is a scam and am not wasting my time driving to meet with a con artist. It is wrong for people to do such a thing. My fiancée and I would love a vacation especially a honeymoon but I'm not being conned into this.

I don't know what to think, half say scam and the other says its not, like I would love to be able to get one of the prizes but I don't know if it's worth my time. I got the call yesturday and they gave me all the info, and also told me my fiancé, who only works nights, is suppose to be there too but since he works nights I could bring one of our parents, it just seems weird to me.

This is absolutely NOT a scam. I received a phone call from a private number on a thursday n did not answer but they left me a message saying i won some gifts etc. So i called them back on the number they left on the voicemail n set up my appoinment for the following saturday. My fiance n I attended the 90 minute presentation on cookware n denied any offers to buy. We left there with $1,000 worth of coupons for groceries AND an all inclusive paid vacation to the bahamas! I will say this though, as soon as we denied the offer 4 the cooking products and told the represenative who's name is ROBERT that we were only interested in the free gifts his whole attitude changed. He became a little rude but i don't care cuz we still left there with our free groceries n our vacation and we didn't buy anything! (Lady K)

Just received a call tonight. I went to a bridal show last Tuesday. This is the third time this has happened, and the last time I hadn't been to a show! Every time it is a different company that calls. If it were legit, they would verify your info and send you the voucher for the trip. I know you get the items, but if you win something, you shouldn't have to go to any demos.

This is a total scam - just like a timeshare presentation. I got a call from Sadie at (631) 683-5129. Bogus number- someone answered in Spanish and had no idea what I was talking about.

I had to look on my phone to see where it came from. It was (212) 199-7774. I called and this woman talked a mile a minute - like it was a rehearsed over a thousand times. She said I'd get one of three gifts: wedding bands, two night three day hotel accommodations, or $1,000 in grocery coupons.

I knew it was too good to be true.

When I pressed her for answers she admitted that we had to go to a presentation and look at their cooking products. I looked up the "free" wedding rings and you can get better ones out of a Cracker Jack box. These were the exact same ones that we saw "on sale" at the court house where we got our marriage license (they had them advertised for $5.99/ring).

The $1,000 in coupons were for stores nowhere in our area. I'm in California and the closest one was in Colorado. SCAM!

Amanda A: could you please post when your products arrive? We ordered too but all of these posts are making me paranoid. I am especially concerned that there is no information online about the products. This would be a great help. Thanks so much!

I just went today. As of now, it's not a scam. What described above with the details on the 3d/2n hotel stay, resort, and rings are accurate. It took a little over two hours to listen to a man by the name of Charlie speak about the gifts ad then the cookware, which are extremely amazing. It's basically like going to a Tupperware host party except with pots and pans.

Charlie was extremely polite, funny (in his own way) and hard working.

I say it's not a scam yet because I haven't booked the hotel yet. So when I do that and everything works out and I get my $ back I'll label it as scam free.

I had to drraaaag my fiancé to go to this. I feel bad he had to sit through the presentation, but I hope it was all worth it.

They don't take any personal information or any money there, unless you want to buy the cookware, but I didn't stay for all of that.

I went to a cooking show and it wasn't pushy at all. The pots were pretty impressive so we got them the rings, cruise, mini trip and a value passport. The pots were pricey but we thought of it as a good investment. My fiancé' doesn't have much credit so I figured this will be good to help build his credit report, since we will be buying a home in the future. (this will go on your credit btw) You can just get the rings and go there was no pressure. And when I think of it I called them to hold my check for the sales tax for another date because I didn’t get pad and they did it with no problems. So we haven’t cashed in on our certificates yet but nothing seems to raise a red flag to me. But you do what works for you.

OK let me see if I can clear things up for everyone.

    Here's how it works:

Like a timeshare, they offer you things/ incentives to show up. As long as you signed up at a bridal show and wanted to win something, you basically agreed to have them contact you. So, they call you and say "Guess what! You won!"

You then drive to the nearest place where they are holding the presentation. There is no obligation to buy, and we didn't feel pressured at all. However, we did end up buying the starter set.

If you think it's a scam, you're wrong. The cooking set is phenomenal! It's ridiculously easy to cook and clean with them. We also have a tiny kitchen and OMG the entire set takes up the least amount of room! I have no regrets in buying at all. Not to mention the rings are really pretty. I can't comment on the vacations because we haven't used them yet.

SCAMMM!!!!!!!!! PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS! I ENDED UP GOING AND SIGNING UP FOR THE COOKWARE, PUTTING $280 DOWN IN CASH. THE POLICY STATES THAT YOU HAVE 3 DAYS TO CANCEL THE ORDER AND RECEIVE A FULL REFUND. SO I TRIED CONTACTING BRANDON THE FOLLOWING DAY ABOUT CANCELING AND HE WOULDNT CALL BACK, TEXT BACK OR EMAIL BACK. FINALLY AFTER HARASSING EVERYONE ELSE INVOLVED, HE CALLED. HE WAS BEGGING MY FIANCEE NOT TO CANCEL BUT FINALLY GAVE UP. WE HAD TO SEND BACK ALL THE FREE TRIP STUFF, IN WHICH WE DID AND NOW, 8 WEEKS LATER, STILL NO MONEY REFUND. YOU CANT CALL BECAUSE HE WONT ANSWER AND YOU CANT EVEN LEAVE A MESSAGE BECAUSE HIS MAILBOX IT FULL. I HAVE SENT A TON OF TEXTS AND STILL NOTHING. SO I WASTED MY TIME AND HE STOLE MY MONEY. WORST OF ALL, THIS MAN CLAIMED HE WAS A HARD WORKING, HONEST CHRISTIAN MAN! LOL WHAT A JOKE, HES NOT A MAN HES A SCAM ARTIST!

It’s a scam! My daughter signed up at a wedding show. She was called saying she "won" a free honeymoon! She was told to go to Marriott room to retrieve her award with several other unfortunate couples who also “won.” They were met with high-pressure sales pitch saying to"buy now" cookware to get the free honeymoon! They spent nearly $2,000 on TWO pots, got an expired coupon for a honeymoon in the Caribbean! She has been calling the phone number to get the updated coupon for a honeymoon they “won” and nobody answers or returns calls! She gave up realizing they’ve been screwed. These are in cahoots: Townecraft, Superior Culinary Design and Odenza. They prey on young naïve couples with stars in their eyes, many on a budget excited about “winning” a honeymoon! Buyer Beware! There is no prize. It is a scam to get personal info, SSN and money! Warn loved ones! Townecraft and Odenza have a long list of complaints on www.ripoff.com; Superior Culinary Design has “F” with BBB and not accredited.
