Is this that big of a job to do???

Symmone, on April 14, 2022 at 12:50 PM Posted in Planning 11 7

Is there any wedding planners that can just do setup and handle the rehearsal without it cost $1k? I just find this so hard to believe. I'm doing all the work for the most part. I just need someone to decorate and order guests and bridal party around. I am hating this part very much. One company quoted me $10k... I just hung up the phone. Help!!!

Try looking for a Day of Coordinator vs a Wedding Planner.

I haven't heard of hiring one just for the rehearsal and not the wedding, so I can't really say if $1000 is too much or not. Plus it depends on the space, amount of decorations, etc.

Alternatively, if you have friends who are not invited to the rehearsal and you trust them, you can pay them to be your coordinator. Just a thought

I had a day of coordinator who was only charging by hour! so i only needed him for set up and his minimum was 2 hours so i thought it worked out well. i think if you search enough you can find someone who charges by hours instead? that way you can just have them for set up only

Day of coordinator. Mine is really a “month of.” She’ll be handling final contracts with vendors, when they should show up day of and she’ll be there for like 10 hours on my wedding day making sure things go smoothly. I’m paying her $750. Wedding planners are different. They are expensive because they literally do the entire process for you. Reach out to vendors etc. if you’re doing that yourself you don’t need a planner

You can certainly find a day of coordinator as opposed to a wedding planner, but I personally think you need to re-approach how you're looking at it. Even your title is quite condescending. Wedding planners/coordinators have one, MAYBE two, days per week they will be working a wedding. They do other work during the week but usually only get that one set amount for the entirety of the work they do for one wedding. They can usually only book one a day because the set up/decorating is all going to be taking place at the same time. They deserve to be compensated fairly for giving you one of their few biggest business days in the week. Expecting anyone to give up a busy weekend day for a few hundred dollars is not often realistic.

I'm so sorry you are in your feelings. I don't think you UNDERSTOOD the assignment. I also think that you need not to judge as you have no idea to what my experience is. Everyone has a job or employment of some sort that they do allot of. I am a business owner with brick & mortar. I make wedding invitations and custom designs for commercial businesses. Soo the level of frustration and all that person has to do... That's not for the customer too worry about as this is the job they chose. THAT'S THERE PROBLEM!! I don't care if you bring Jesus back before Easter, the cost for day of wedding is extreme here in AZ. Allow the customer to decide how well the service is. Especially when the Bride and get team has done all the work. I could care less about said planner giving there weekend up too work. Great!!! Join the workforce!!! I, like many others, work hard so I don't wanna hear nothing about no... They work hard. So what does everyone else do. The NERVE of YOU!! If you are a wedding planner... This is what you chose to do. Nobody gets sympathy from me because of the career choices they made. Hang it up!!! I have clients... Home... Business too run... Orders to fulfill... Payroll...etc. You don't see me crying about My work load.

The manager of the costume design shop at the Theater I do overhire work for told me she would be my Day Of coordinator. (I had been pretty much complaining to her about the costs, too) Since I work with her and have seen her organizational skills, commanding demeanor (in a good sense) as well as her amazing people skills, I have full faith in her abilities to oversee everything and work well alongside the venue coordinator. Plus, she used to do wedding stuff on the side while in grad school for costuming. I am paying her $500.00.
