Is two years too long to wait to get married after you get engaged?

I just got engaged on July 4th. My fiance and I at first both said 2 years would be great. But now in thinking I might want to do it sooner. The reason to wait so long was so everyone could save money. Please let me know what you ladies think. Thank you

If it's for the sake of saving money, two years isn't too long! It's going to feel like torture but it'll be worth it!

Congrats!!!!! I got engaged July 3 basically 4th July weekend. I was worried also that 2 years was too long, but when you have to save it makes more sense to have a longer engagement .

My FH and I are getting married in March, about 2 years since we got engaged. We couldn't imagine rushing the process as so many things have come up. But the downside of a long engagement too is there's too much time to change your mind about all the details actually adding more stress. For us, we are really fine tuning what we want so I think longer is good!

Our engagement was exactly 2 years (first date was 7-2-13, engaged 7-2-14, married 7-2-16). Honestly, the time really does fly by. Could we have planned the wedding in less time? Of course we could have. But I'm glad we did things the way we did them. It gave us time to be able to afford to pay for things a little at a time. Since our wedding was loaded with DIY stuff, it also gave us time to get that stuff done.

My FH and I our engagement will be for 1.5 years. I thought I'd be too excited to wait this long but it's well worth it!

Out engagement would be a total of 2yrs and 4 months. We are paying for pretty much everything so that's the main reason why. Initially I thought it was too long but now I have a year and 4 months left to go and it sort of feels like time is flying by!

We moved our engagement to last for 2 years after a couple of months of thinking we were aiming for a year... let me tell you, BEST DECISION EVER! It was a stress reliever to the max! AND the best part? We won't owe anything after our wedding! We are able to save and spend cautiously and really decide on the things we want, versus the things that are extra and don't need. It's been such a wonderful experience. Do I want to just be married? You bet! BUT the wedding is just over a year away now and time will fly. Good luck!

Our engagement will be 22 months- no regrets! Gives us plenty of time to save money without stressing and honestly planning has been extremely stress free. I've had no issues getting my first choice in vendors. Also, time is flying. Only 14 months left!

We're going to be engaged for 17---almost 18---months by the time we get married. 2 Years is totally fine, especially to save money. If you want to move it sooner then do it, but it should be because you want to, not because other people have their own timeline for you.

    Congratulations to all Brides/couples!

We got engaged in Feb this year, was 1st thinking Aug 2017-next year- but how time is flying may wait until Aug 2018 as we, the couple are only ones to pay for our Wedding!

Our engagement is 15 months and in my opinion to long. You get to a point where your like "ok let's just do this thing". We are at that point.

Our engagement will be 22 months by the time we get married. We have been together 6 years. We didn't feel the need to rush. We wanted to be able to enjoy being engaged, and save up, and not feel rushed during the planning process.

We will have been engaged 2 1/2 yrs by the time we are married. I personally am thankful for the longer engagement. All the things that have to be paid for, I started at 2 yrs out. I paid on my dress for over a year. The shop was great in letting me pay small amts each month. Stretching it out that way really helped financially. We even did our venue last year and paid it out. I didn't feel as rushed and smaller payments each month made it feel easy!
